I gotta admit , AC isn't really my favorite race sim. In fact up until about last week I never really cared for it that much. This week I dedicated myself to trying to figure things out with this sim , and I had more fun than I figured I would. I think my main issue was that I tried to drive and download to many 3rd party tracks , and I didn't care for them. I deleted all of them and just stuck with the basic tracks and all the ones that come with DLC 1 , 2 and 3.

Today...trying Brands hatch , with the Ford Escort and the Lotus 25 and 72...holy hell what a good time! All a blast to drive! Haven't tried the other's yet. But that little Escort is addicting!!

Great DLC and upgrade, I love it.
Now multi is really great, and now I can achieve more fps. thx.
The Ford at Brands Hatch it's simple amazing... a really joy to drive. The only car, IMO, useless is the Gallardo Superleggera; incredible power, not good on handling due too power.
Lotus 72 and 25 are really funny, especially the 25...
Thx Kunos, next step it's pitstop.

Me too made a mistake with a lot of 3rd party mods... Now I have only AC DLC, and 3 track modded... AC now is one of my fav sim... and yes Ford at Brand Hatch it'a absolutely funny. Try it at Mugello...
Bye

You guys REALLY need to try harder to find tracks, come on... lol
There are COUNTLESS great tracks out there!!!
Hillclimbs like Joux Plane, Akagi, Shomaru, Coste, Glava Zete, Krajiska Zmija, Lake Louise...
Blackwood Reloaded, Aosta, Brno, Enna Pergusa, Montreal, Hope, Interlagos, Mills Metro Park...
All of the Sim Traxx tracks...(ok you have to wait for 1.0 versions though)
Come ooooon! lol:p

anyone know if BH layout has changed since 1986 GP? doesn't look much different on maps
comparing times senna did in the 98T (1:07) - try that here in Assetto. :O

I was at the GP in '86 and there have been quite a few changes over the years but none particularly major. Sheene Curve has been reprofiled (+ had it's name changed) to make some run-off as there used to be none. As I remember it is a bit quicker now than in the 80's. Graham Hill bend has also changed profile a couple of times and I think is probably one gear lower now. Paddock Hill bend was also tightened at the exit to make some run-off. If you go over the kerb there you are going on to what was the old track surface. Several other corners had some run-off added but all pretty minor changes really.

This is a (bad) picture I took of the start of the GP in '86 going into the first corner. Shows how little run-off there was back then and how brave those guys were compared to today.

I actually did try a few of those. I couldn't get Blackwood reloaded to actually load for some reason. Brno wasn't bad and I'll probably put that one back in. Montreal I wasn't a big fan really. And even though I like Interlagos and Bathurst....I couldn't get the Ai out of the pits. They all wrecked coming out of the pits , or just wouldn't leave. Another three tracks I actually really enjoyed but could not get the AI to leave the pits were mid ohio , Road Atlanta and Laguna Seca.......all three had the AI broken.

I ended up getting so frustrated with low poly tracks OR the tracks I really enjoyed , I couldn't get the Ai to run with me.

There are plenty of high-res Speedracer pics on google images...

There sure is a lot of complaints about A.I... Speaking of which,it's supposed to be better in 1.4.
I never drive with A.I. so far so I can't tell...

The AI on the actual AC / Kunos released tracks work really good on their tracks. The AI worked very well on some of the other tracks I downloaded from modders as well. There are some keepers in there for sure. But on a lot of my favorites , they just wouldn't work.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get the AI to actually drive out of the pits on some of these tracks without crashing and causing a pile up? Or maybe figure out why the AI won't go out for the qualifying , but still place higher than the person driving the sim? Usually when that happens , they all line up on the grid to start a race , but either the race never starts or when it does , they all disappear?

What's weird is , so many modders spend all that time creating some great tracks , but never finish it and get the AI to even work. Never understood that.

the tracks you mentioned are all quick rips with no way of making the AI line work correctly.

Most of the tracks he mentioned are NOT rips.

Laguna Seca has been vastly improved recently. (Version 3.1)
Bathurst has better AI now, download the fix.(0.7.1)
As for Interlagos, I HOPE you played Malagoli's one, and not the pitiful rip on this website.

Road Atlanta does seem to suck, I didn't even know it existed.
I need to test Mid-ohio again... I do think it could need a serious rework...

Laguna Seca, Bathurst, Interlagos, Road Atlanta, Mid-Ohio; every one of those are rips.

They are? I usually do 99% of my DL'ing from here and I wasn't aware of that. That completely sucks if true , because the 5 tracks you just mentioned are 5 of my very favorite tracks of all time. Where were they ripped from? And why do they look better than a lot of the other mod tracks? ( for this sim anyways )

If you enjoy them then have fun; but for now it probably isn't possible to get the AI working any better on them. You can always try to record an AI line yourself, there is tutorial thread somewhere in the official forums that explains how to do it. (plus it is really easy, there is an app)

Thanks for the info Michael! I will look into how to get the Ai working on some of these!

@Lily........You were right! I must of had a string of bad luck on my downloads. It seems a lot of the ones I drove on were incomplete and NOT the final version. I just tested these 4 tracks here....

Bathurst : Fixed AI with that 0.71 fix you mentioned. Works extremely well and the AI go very well there. Only 10 pit boxes , but it works!

Blackwood reloaded : Holy hell , this is NOT the same Blackwood version I had! This one looks finished and looks extremely nice! I had the original blackwood and it looked worse than any scratch built RF1 track ever made. This is not the same.

Laguna Seca : Got the updated version , and again , I must of had an unfinished version. Very , very fun indeed and the AI and the looks , look awesome!

Tor Poznan : This is a different version as well! Very fun track as well and well worth the download!

Tested all of them with the new Ford Escort MKII , full pits and wow , haha , what a freakin' blast!

FWIW....I downloaded every single track from links here on RD. What I didn't realize when I was getting them were MOST of those were unfinished tracks. I went to the AC site and went through the tracks list and downloaded them as a finished product.....night and day difference!

Thanks for filling me in on the fixes AND cluing me in on something I may of missed out on. Time to start from scratch again with these AC tracks.
