Assetto Corsa: Console Previews Released

Kunos Simulazioni, in conjunction with 505 Games have announced they are working together to bring the highly popular Italian racing simulator to the much larger PlayStation 4 and Xbox One market by the end of the first quarter of 2016. Up until today they have revealed very little detail about the progress of the project.

A series of screenshots and video previews have been released showcasing the game and some of the new and exciting content headed our way, including the Corvette C7 Stingray, the LaFerrari FXX-K and even the newly announced Ferrari 488GTB.

Known for providing one of the purest driving experiences in all of SimRacing, providing a vastly superior physics and force feedback package than any of it's soon-to-be console rivals (pCARS, Forza and Gran Turismo), Kunos' co-founder Marco Massarutto has gone to great lengths to reassure fans that neither the PC nor console versions of the game will be diluted and 'dumbed down' to suit the more casual audience that inevitably comes with the console market, and from the early game play footage it looks as though Kunos have remained true to their word.

Additionally, the user interface of Assetto Corsa has been receiving an overhaul in time for the console release to make it more aesthetically pleasing and more user-friendly. Whilst it looks as if it can be a little clunky to scroll through the entire car list, the overall improvement is much needed.

GT3 is the only properly represented series, there's a couple of minor entrei

I remember back when they first announced this console release and said new UI and career both coming for consoles and PC as well.
While PC development pretty much stalled other than DLC release, I was ok with that knowing that we at least had those to look forward to with the console release.

Oh well.

I don't even know what to expcept from the upcomming 1.5 update.
There are many feature request list floating on the internet. It would be easy to do with their many years of programing experiences and everyone would be happy.
But no.
For example that ffb steering lock or whatever. It was asked many times and than it was implemented in a live stream video if I remember correctly? Seriously....
But still no option for it in the menu because they don't like it. :D

And this is a big difference." is rather ignorant, i gave several reasons that i know just from streams/reading of why they cant do it, and there are maybe even more internally, so it is more of a case of they cant do it than they dont want to, because it will upset more than half of the userbase. just because it will please you, that doesnt mean they simply dont want to do it im afraid...

you are upset at stefanos blunt and honest replies (inter-forum reading going on here..) ummm not sure what to say really, i prefer the no BS attitude personally..

just because you will pay them to add something (as would I), it doesnt automatically make it the correct decision for them to go ahead and do it. i think your comments here and the huge one on the ac forum shows that you assume a bit too much about how game development works, particularly for such a small operation as kunos. clearly you are passionate about the game/genre which is great.

also in reply to your very most recent one, they didnt make soft lock a menu option because the implementation doesnt work well on some wheels or something like that (not sure if it works particularly well on any tbh, bounces off the lock too much for me), you can find the exact quote if you dig through stefanos post history.

But no.
It's impossible for someone that's not actually involved in the development of the game to say what is and isn't easy to achieve, and just because a feature request list exists doesn't mean that it should be fulfilled. I can't make a list of things I think you should do and actually expect you do to any of them. It's up to you to decide what you believe is right for you.

It's the same for any business, Kunos have all the facts and figures, they know more about making a sim than you and I combined, if they make the business decision to ignore a feature or set it aside, then there was probably a very good reason for that decision.

Because is not working well. Is too bumpy when it reaches the soft lock, so this is an unsupported feature inside an .ini file. Some people can really twist what others say, in this case devs. They didn't put it in the menu because it doesn't work ok, not because they don't like it.

Guys, please stop wrongly interpreting and assuming many things from Stefano's streams. What he does there is like a Vlog (video log), things he works on the game when he doesn't do scheduled things for it. The things he says in his stream is more his personal opinion, because those things are always discussed as a team and then decide what is better.
 
I woke up way too late to have an opinion on the GUI but nonetheless...

I like the PC version's font more. It makes AC stand out - sharper than the 'last gen' games (rfactor and derivatives use super blurry fonts and gradients once you get up to 1080p), but not "omg the thinnest font we can render" like the 'next gen' (pcars)

And no it's not Arial, it's Segoe, the same one Microsoft Windows uses.

What specifically don't people like about AC's career mode? The only difference I find from PCars is that it doesn't tell you what calendar date each event is on, or tweet you that you won... I didn't play it when it came out because the AI sucked, but really. It's a completely normal career mode. You start in slow/easy cars, if you can win in those you get to do events in faster cars. If you just want to race the fast cars, well, that's what quick race / race weekend modes are for.

If people continue to rant against the devs maybe they will eventually get what they have been ranting about all the time.....and thus the rest of this community.
I used to be impatient too especially with the AI but now I am digging into the game and start to understand one or two things. ...the beauty of the pc version of this game lies within the depths of the data and coding and not in the menu UI or slick menu styling. Realise that the pc user will get so much more than a console user from this game....you only have to open your eyes and get yourself educated into this game. I have spend 1375 hours so far on AC, 75 of those are pure racing hours, the 1300 others are spend on skin modding, data modding and experimenting with setups and all that is modifyable (bad English)....no race game has been so open source and moddable (again bad English) ever. I spend 500,000km racing in Gran Turismo from GT1 to GT5 on PS, but now I see the virtue and privilege pc gamers have compared to console gamers. Embrace it, don't discard it. AC is a treasure for the hard core sim racer and modder, not to mention the graphical pornography of the most beautiful cars coming towards us in due time and some already present in game. Did u see by the way that the licence is running from 2010-2020?! when the menu launches? That means 4 more years of development, add on content, DLC and all of the gold stuff we sim racers and modders love. Be patient, be grateful, be wise. ...be the game .
 
Seriously, why don't you and your buddy DewCrew88 Chris get a new hobby that you actually enjoy? We get it by now: sim racing has never been this awful.

Sim racing is actually pretty good right now, Dirt Rally and the mp structure of iRacing are shining lights right now.

Will wait for some proof that they have broken any promises before passing judgement. Can't see any yet.

By selling a racing game in 2016 that you cannot change your paints in, or have the proper rules and options to run most races they broke promises. After all it is "your racing simulator"

Why don't people use their brains? Of course all they are focused on right now is console release, this is where they maximize their efforts AT THE MOMENT. So I do understand if they postpone few things, its not like the game is unplayable, doesn't work completely and so on. Let them get it off their backs and hopefully everything will be back to normal and balanced soon enough.

Before jumping to conclusions perhaps you should at least consider all of the circumstance or the very least, wait and see.

Some people are just expecting to much from a small team like kunos imo. AC on pc has been improving ever since it came out and will continue to do so i am sure. Ofcourse the focus is now on the console release as it is getting closer everyday now but i am convinced they wont forget about us.

To be honest i am afraid Kunos is underestimating what it takes to be succesfull on console. Console players are used to AAA titles created by big studios. Kunos being a small team simply cannot deliver that. Sure the driving experience is great and all but that isnt what most console players playing with gamepads care about. But we will see maybe im wrong and it will be a succes. I sure hope so as it would generate allot of income for Kunos wich they can use to make the game/sim even better for all platforms.

rFactor.net homepage says "After successfully creating over a dozen products in the previous ten years" while the fact is that they have release fewer than 12 products since Jan 2006.

RaceRoom Racing Experience homepage uses huge font saying "REAL CARS" yet Ruf doesn't have any real GT3 race cars.

Project Cars "info" page boldfaced this sentence"Project CARS is the most authentic, beautiful, intense, and technically-advanced racing game on the planet." I guess I could only say "Wow".

On iRacing's homepage the word "next-gen" can be seen but I guess they need to use newer DX version and in "overview" page it calls itself "inexpensive" which is not particularly the case for many people.

On GSC website you can see "GSC2013 combines the best graphics, sounds and gameplay, delivering a totally immersive experience", while to be fair most people consider its graphics one of the most dated on the market.

So what? We are living in a sea of lies!

Oh I forgot Dirt Rally. Well they "It captures the essence of what makes rally unique like no other game" and I'm pretty sure some people will agree that at least RBR captures those essences quite well and makes rally also quite unique.

Am I nitpicking? Hell yeah! Why not?

lol indeed any claim made by a company about their own product should be taken with a grain of salt.

It's completely bizarre to complain that a feature which MP server hosts can turn off, is turned off by them.

Same as the "AC doesn't let anyone except first place finish the race" - that's only the case because the server host set the session to end soon after the first driver finishes.

If you don't like it, host your own server where you can pick your skin and that waits 3 minutes after the first driver finishes to let everyone else finish their lap too. It's not hard.

That's like saying BMW has broken promises because my 320 isn't as fast as a P1, despite also having four wheels.
I can't find anything on their website that would clearly state features that didn't make it for 1.0. And no, "your racing simulator" doesn't promise anything but a simulator that you can use to race in. You can do that in AC just fine. I just did that, and enjoyed it a lot.
Saying that you want to be able to pick a color in non-booking mode is one thing, crying over this over and over and over again (I mean really? of all things...), using it to twist it into a fraud-like scheme, is childish at the very best. Just move on. That's the good thing about having choices.
 
i hate to say it but assetto corsa will tank on consoles,its just not controller friendly.
no custom championships,no rain,no night,no leaderboards.no real multi player.
yep i see only bad things for it.

Please explain how it has no real mutliplayer? I do also wonder how many people on Forza (except Horizon which isn't a sim but has dynamic weather and runs at 30 fps) do actual races with race cars and in the rain or night (I'm not claiming they don't, because I haven't played so I have no clue).
 
Than so be it. I don't care.
The fact is that they finaly finish the console version they will have a lot of resource to do other things.
And I don't see any shaddy in their developement. The interview with marco was very honest. Especially when they asked about the performance. They stated that ps4 will do 60fps. Xbox 360 with lower resolution more or less the same performance. :D
This is very honest answer In my opinion.
They openly talk about everything. They said somewhere that the campionship for example will not be in the 1.0 console version.
Xbox One, not 360. 1080p60 on PS4, 900p60 on Xbox.

pretty sure weather can be randomized or set in the lobby and they sure do use it, but they still prefer Horizon 2 because its got really easy arcade physics and open map system.
