Due to a few delays it took Kunos Simulazioni a little extra time to deliver the announced multiplayer functionality to the community. Today the wait ends as issues have been fixed and tested and are now available via a Steam update for customers.

Besides a whole bunch of servers provided by Kunos the community has start hosting the first multiplayer rooms already and of course you are more than welcome to visit the official RD servers as well.

Some nice consistent laps in the P4/5 at Silverstone ... MP working great. Soft tyres work nicely.

Makes sense. But calling the next version 1.0 won't make it any more complete than if they had called it 0.10. ;)

Absolutely true and the final release will be when Kunos is ready. I'm sure they're targeting the September time frame as a deadline but the numbering system for each build doesn't mean much of anything. We could be another 32 builds away from the final release.

I think, 0.9.XXX is last big state of development, multiplayer.
Once they have multiplayer ready and all promised content then can release 1.0, and continue fixing things, releasing extra features like pit stops and the long awaited modding tools.

This is why I don't understand why the community is obsessed with having a "1.0 version". It's clear that many things will be left out from the planned 1.0 and will be added later. In my opinion they could as well forget the numbers completely and keep releasing build XXX. As long as the update rate remains as quick as it's now, people are happy and the numbers mean nothing.

1.0 is when the bi-weekly updates come to a stop. The devs can't wait to get to this point, I assure you.

It is when all the content and features that are listed on the website will be available and once it is released the mod tools won't be too terribly far behind, hopefully. The game will have received as much optimization as possible at that point and however it runs is how it runs.

The game will continue to be supported for several years but there will be no set deadlines for any of the projects they are working on. (Besides paid DLC that they give a release date for)

For better or worse the game will be 'complete'. If the devs wanted to walk away from the project at that point they would have every legal right to.

Had a disastrous time getting on line last night.

After lots of errors when clicking on "join" or failing to connect to the servers, I finally got into a game. That reported "problem with connection" or something and it never left practice mode.

Must have wasted a good 30 minutes just waiting for failed booking attempts.
