    Dear Assetto Fans,

From this Thursday onwards we'll re-ignite our Premium Driver Academy program with Assetto Corsa

    What is the driver academy
RaceDepartment has a long history of helping starting inexperienced sim racers to make their first steps into the world of online racing.

Some drivers may think they aren't fast enough to race online, or fear that their lack of racing skills will ruin somebody else's race. Well fear no more!

If the above applies to you we will help you to transform in no less than 90 to 120 minutes from a rookie into a sim racer that has touched on all the basics of online motorsports and you'll be ready to race online in our clubs, leagues (or anywhere else on the web you prefer of course).

On Thursday's I'll take six rookies out on track and with intensive personal coaching I'll help you to shave off a significant amount of time from your previous best lap times.

    What you'll learn
    • How to prepare yourself for online racing (steering wheel setup etc)
    • How to brake
    • How to shift
    • How to accelerate
    • How to corner
    • How to understand the behaviour of your car
    Interested?
    1. If you haven't done so already upgrade your account here and go premium. The little 9,99 Euro will not only give you access to our driver academy but also include the tons of other cool premium features listed on that page.
    2. After upgrading, head over to the Premium Driver Academy subforum in the The Paddock Club which is exclusively available to premium members.
    3. Sign yourself up for the next event and kick start your sim racing career!
We'll be offering an advanced driver academy for average sim racers in the near future as well. Stay tuned for more info.

I'll try to stay fully tuned for that other one if possible, Bram ....
The 2 or 3 seconds missing in a laptime compared to the best ones are always the most difficult ones to catch up. :(

I'm interested in attending. I would rate myself as below average sim racer with a hectic life schedule. If I can attend one or two courses that would be fab.

Great! Do you think we could join in on the events you're having this month or have we missed too much already?

I offered a suggestion on another forum for a dedicated Brake and Car Control training facility. You might want to give it a look.

    POST SCRIPT:

After some thought, I think that my post might seem a bit like poaching. I'm very sorry if that's the case. I've taken them down to prevent further difficulties and will put them up in more appropriate places.

@Tedd60ga, for what it is worth, I think that this (special driving course with hints and exercises) might be a good idea. I'm not sure how to implement that or anything but it seems a fine idea. I also found the Skip Barber videos on youtube very informative:
there are also iracing driving school videos, which I havent looked at yet.
Even though there's material available, it is still different to have an interactive school; I'm still looking forward to learn some new techniques from @Bram, when the driver academy (re)starts.

In a few weeks I resume :) In the meantime don't be shy to sign up for some casual racing club events and join us on teamspeak. Plenty of knowledge and expertise there as well to help you out.

Wih regards to training videos, they wont help you much unfortunately as videos don't tell you what you are doing wrong and where you can improve. A human instructor will always give you the best results in the end.
