Anyone still using TrackIR in 2016?

Hi guys,

I am wondering if anyone is still using TrackIR, as its been out for awhile. I have been looking into getting TrackIR 5 but it seems that most people recommend it for flight sims however some people use it for racing sims. Is it worth getting? Please let me know if you have any experience with it. I just got triple 27 inch monitors as well.

I use single screen too. I have enabled yaw, pitch and roll and disabled the other three axis.
Enabling roll and pitch certainly adds to the immersion when yaw is also enabled. IMO, only using yaw kills the immersion for me. Only being able to look left and right while in game makes my head movements look unnatural (feels like my virtual head in game is forced to be perfectly still while looking left n right). I've adjusted yaw in trackir settings so that I'm never turning my head away from my monitor because if your head is turning away from the monitor, your eyes are straining to look at the centre of the monitor. That's why some people say they don't like trackir. They claim it feels unnatural to turn your head one way, but your eyes are straining looking the opposite direction.
However, if you have things setup right, then trackir instantly becomes a beautiful thing! I also recommend a large ultra wide monitor. You can use a large tv, but I prefer a monitor over a tv for gaming.

This looks great! My track clip pro is however working perfectly fine! But this version is wireless! Less wires is always better. Thanks for sharing!

No problem.

My TrackClip had fallen apart, been glued back together, fallen apart again, re-glued, modified, re-glued, etc. And it always was kind of rubbish, even when new, at maintaining tracking, at even moderate angles (the sensor would very often lose sight of the middle led).

So this upgrade was a no-brainer for me.

Yea I've heard of the poor quality of the track clip pro. I've dropped it (on carpet) and even nicked it against parts of my rig a few times whenever I'm looking for my mini keyboard or adjusting something. Knock on wood, mine is holding up great after about 11 months of use. No issues so far. Only thing that's getting to me is the extra wire. So I'll be looking into the wireless one soon.

I can tell the same about mine. It dropped twice and hit against my arm a lot of times and still alive. It's about two years old now. But wireless would be nice too

Even with shipping to US this is going to work out a heck of lot cheaper than trackIR and is built to last. When I saw IR tracking I was hooked but then with a bit of research came across this guy. Well worth considering and several really good reviews of it. The big bonuses it's built like a tank and also cost less than starts at less than $30 (if my math is good) and the wireless version cost even with US shipping would be less than Track IR 5. This is not an add just giving you a heads up. https://www.trackhat.org

Do you have a ini file or how it works? I never changed anything on Track IR so far.

The settings appears to be stored in a xml-file in C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\...\profiles IIRC. I'm not at my sim-pc right now so not 100% sure about the path, but anyway it's in the installation directory where you initially installed the software.

Below is the profile i last used. Mind you, i tweak it every now and then so it might or might not suit your situation. Axis0 and Axis1 seems to be enabled here. I guess they represent yaw and pitch in the gui. You'll probably also want to set the hotkeys to your own preferences.

EDIT: I'm not sure if it's significant regarding the profile settings, but i prefer using the TrackClip cause i don't want to deal with the cables that comes with the Pro version and it works just fine for me.
