Any runners here?

Depends on what your goals are, I started 3 years ago aiming at the 8 miles GRIM run here in the UK, since then I do a couple of half marathons a year. Once you've got the practicalities sorted like proper footwear etc then it's all about your mental approach. For example, my approach was to run 3 days a week, your first 2 runs of that week were about stamina building so I run with weight on my back picking a route with as many uphill sections in as possible, then my third run of the week would be the distance run. Say you did 6 miles, either stamina or distance run, then the next week I'd mentally say to myself 'If I can do 6 then I can do 7.' Before you know it you're up to and passed half marathon distance.

Best advice given to me was to set your goal, and expect some weeks won't be as good as others (injury, fatigue etc) but it's how you deal with the setbacks that will determine whether you reach the goal or not.

Hope this helps:)
