Discussion in 'F1 2012 - The Game' started by Alexis Levastre, Oct 12, 2012.

  1. Hi there !
    I have a trouble with my F1 2012 settings. Actually I can't set an anti-aliasing filter up to 4msaa, Is there an issue ?
    My graphic card is an AMD Radeon HD6870 1Gb
    Can you help me ? Thanks guys !
  2. Might be a driver problem.

    I don't know whether it would effect the AA selection in the game graphics menu, but have you forced an AA setting in the Catalyst CCC control panel?

    There are 3 choices in CCC :-

    1/ Use Application Settings
    2/ Enhance Application Setting
    3/ Override Application Settings

    I use option 1

    If you use option 3 to override the application, perhaps that prevents you choosing another one in-game. I don't know, I have not tried it.

    If that isn't it, then perhaps you can create a CCC profile to force higher AA when running F1 2012.
  4. Thank you, I'll try that

    Edit: Nothing happen, I'm stick on 4msaa :/

  6. I have updated them to 12.8 last night, nothing happen.
    In the demo I was stuck on 4msaa too.
    I'll try 12.9, thanks man !
  7. I've seen that it happens when I choose a resolution screen up to 1080p, otherwise if I choose a smaller one i can take up to 8xmsaa.

    Is it a card limitation?

    Perhaps it doesn't support x8 AA @ 1080p resolutions?

    Can you use or test it in other games @ 1080p x8AA. maybe BF3 or COD, any game .....
  9. In many games it works ! Don't understand :/

    @ Simberia @Simberia

    Force it ?
    This might work, copy paist this into your config and make it read only.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <hardware_settings_config version="46">
    <threadStrategy parallelUpdateRender="true" workerMapFile="system/workerMap2Core.xml" forceFeedbackProcessor="1" dvdStorageProcessor="1" dataSetMonitorProcessor="0" renderProcessor="0" updateProcessor="1" fileStreamProcessor="1" />
    <graphics_card update="true">
    <directx forcedx10="false" />
    <resolution width="2560" height="1600" aspect="16:10" fullscreen="true" vsync="1" multisampling="16xqcsaa" oldWidth="800" oldHeight="600">
    <refreshRate rate="60" />
    <gamma level="1.1" />
    <textures lod="0" />
    <shadows enabled="true" size="2048" maskQuality="2" />
    <headlights headlightQuality="2" />
    <particles enabled="true" wind="true" />
    <crowd enabled="true" detail="1" />

    <groundcover mode="blended" clutter="true" />

    <trees lod="1.5" maxlod="0" />
    <vehicles characterQuality="4" lodQuality="3" />
    <envmap faces="6" size="1024" forceBilinear="false" />
    <water update="true" detail="2" />
    <mirrors enabled="true" forceBilinear="true" width="2048" height="512" car_maxlod="1" car_culldist="800.0" />
    <skidmarks enabled="true" />
    <dynamic_ambient_occ enabled="true" />
    <track_reflections enabled="true" />

    <motion enabled="true" ip="dbox" port="20777" delay="1" extradata="0" />
    <led_display nativeSupport="true" />

    You might need to change a few things but you got the general idea.
  11. Thanks for your help !
    I've tried this, lock in read only, but in game menu anti-aliasing returns to off, and cannot set it up to 4xmsaa again ...
    Maybe in the hardware hardware_settings_info there's something to change
  12. I've download an SMAA injector, It has solved the issue in another way ^^
    Thanks for your help !
  13. Hi,

    I have a question to the Anti Aliasing system of the game as I can only choose MSAA for Anti Aliasing but I have read in several threads, that others have multiple choices for this option, such as 16xqcaa etc...

    Does anyone know why I am limited in my choices? I have an ATi Radeon HD 6950.

    Regards Ben
  14. CSAA is Nvidia only. On AMD graphics card, EQAA is essentially identical to CSAA.
  15. Hmm, ingame I can only choose MSAA while in the Catalyst Control Center I can choose between MSAA, EQAA and SSAA.

    If I change the method of AA in CCC, what is then used ingame? MSAA or the version I chose in CCC?
  16. Does CCC have option for overriding application setting? If it has, you can override anti alias setting by CCC, no matter what application setting is.
    You have to check it yourself because I don't have AMD cards.
  17. Okay, I'll try that, thanks kenken for your help :)
