I converted it to rfactor so I could use the aiw editor. I auto generated the grid, it's a bit more compacted that your original grid. Do you have rfactor? If yes, would you like the converted files incase you need to edit the aiw again?

Copy and paste this into your aiw

#4: I'm also not so keen on the road texture, Australian country roads tend to have white stripes down the middle, not yellow.

From memory, it was the late '80's that Australia replaced yellow with white stripes as it had been in most states......a cost cutting messure Im sure (only one colour of paint to purchase).
Ive found it fairly hard myself in trying to find a decent Aussie country road texture, although the 'old broken edged' road textures from weirdbeard's Hayward Xpack is pretty good though they do require a high negative MIP value to show up at their best.
Best of luck with your build whichever direction you take it!

Don't have rFactor but conversion already? That was fast.. I'll buy rFactor, been long in the list anyway. So, yes please i would like to have the converted files. And if you like to do a conversion for 1.0, i'll share the credits of course..

Thanks ain't big enough for a word, but it'll have to do, now..

np, it is not a big job to do, just an import and export of gmt's with simed, add skybox and edit a few things in the scn and gdb. I'll pm you a link to the files.

Just a little update.. I'll finish this project soon but i probably will simplify it a bit.. I did the nasty and started a new project before finshing the previous one and it's hard to motivate your self for hours of monotunous clicking when the alternative is fast creating..

This means:
- I'll skip the staggered grid and just put the usual boring one on the pitstraight..
- shadows that are bugging will be removed.. this could mean all of them.
- AI line.. this one i just have to do.. It's so frustrating that the old AI was almost perfect, it did better lap times than i but it got lost...
and of course collision walls and those odd tree LOD's will be fixed

Version 1.0 is out: RD DOWNLOAD

AI fast line is unfinished but i like to tweak that little by little.. It's very time consuming with this sized track, one waypoint edit takes about 4-5 seconds on my computer and the test cycle loading times make the progression very slow.. Also i'm just too exited about the latest project and like to concentrate on one track at a time..

Very special thanks to Erik for giving great feedback and taking time to test it online.

If anyone is interested of making the AIW with rFactor editor i would be sooo happy ;) The grid is still not what i wanted and the normal grid spacing doesn't make any sense located anywhere else than in the normal, boring pitstraight (sorry, miniak that i didn't use your grid, it needs to be edited manually.. )

EDIT: if you wonder what that rumble strip n the middle of the road is that doesn't use rumble strip FFB effects but still is felt as a vibration.. it is this:

(thanks, eric.. Somehow remembered that RD didn't use bbcodes...)

ap7jps.jpg

The coordinates are from the second control point from the right.. The trick is that there's 2cm deep "valleys" 6cm apart with the middle peak sligthly lower. The strip is ~18cm wide so the effect is strongest when most of the tire is in top of it and fades gradually when entering flat surface again. .. FFB is constantly trying to decide what feedback to give and that gives it that peculiar feel. I like to hear your feedback, how it feels with different wheel and settings. Testing is done with Momo on 90/120 FFB settings.

Ok, let me know how it goes, if you have any problems I can convert the new gmt's. Infact you can do it yourself if you have simed, or you can try the demo where you get 20 days http://www.sim-garage.co.uk/ but I think you are limited to the amount of objects you can export, so you would have to do it in batches.
All that needs to be done is to open the new gmts and export them as rfactor gmt's, then copy just the instances (without the skybox) from the trk file into the rf scn file, its a real quick job.

I need a bunch of GTR2 gmt's converted to Race07. I got amazing help from nogrip and they reworked the AIW and made the racing line visible but it's for GTR2 version.. So if anyone can convert those GMT's this track is one huge step closer to been ready.

EDIT: They are some Reflect.gmt's, don't really know what they do but i would like to find out :)

EDIT: BenMK1 did awesome job, now i can't beat the AI at 100%...

Ok, i got some free time again :D. Downloading now, I'd say the reflect gmt's are for the wet track.

So tell me, these gmt's are for gtr2 and you want them for race07? or you want it converted to rfactor?

I got it in rfactor and since there was already a wet reflect mesh I decided to make a wet version too.

But there is a problem, I found the signs all flickered, they weren't set to double sided and the only other thing that can cause flickering is double faces, so I decided to import one of them into 3dmax and yep, they are double faced. Not so much the same material and texture, it has the sign face and all the metal pole on one material, then on the doubled faces it has 3 other separate materials of a metal type. So I dunno what's happened there.

It's probably best if you fix up the models and pack them back into the xpack then re export. I can do it in 3dmax for you but it would be good if you could do it yourself :)

Yeah, i know the problem. These were the first objects ever that i created on Sketchup, was meant to be corrected but simply forgot. I can export them again.

They are for GTR2 and of course it would be nice to have them in action in Race07 version also.. I really don't know more about them, Goresh from Nogrip did them for the GTR2. I've noticed that this project has started have it's own life, people doing all sorts of fixes with out me knowing.. That's not a bad thing, i've been in awe for the amount of work previously unknown people have done to make this ever better. I don't know but there could be someone allready converting this for rFactor and GTL also..
