Since Andy is away, I thought I would set up a fun event for our next outing.
Now that we have lots of new GTL members coming on board, lets have a fun event where people can try out a few different car choices. Also, since we will be spending more time in the TC-65 Cars in the League, lets have a blast in the other classes before it starts.

This will be just for fun. We will hold three 6 lap sprint style races, you can choose any car you want from the default selection, and we blast around Spa for laughs. You can even try the GT-40 or Shelby Cobra if you want to see if you can manage to get it through Eau Rouge in one piece  .

Just make sure you pick a different car for each race. Let's also try to aim for a big variety of cars on the grid.

Just got up to go to work to be told my leave for tonight has now been granted:D If it's not too late I'll turn up with

1. Lotus Elite.
2.Porsche 914.
3.AC Shelby Cobra:pound:

Sorry, for the change, it's a bit of an unexpected shock as I'm still in 'night shift' mode.

I got confused with the car choice bit thinking everyone was giving 3 favourites then take one for the race, just noticing now its 3 different races and everyone was choosing one car for each race,so i wont be taking one of the top powerhorses each round,i will be looking at matching up to the little mini's or elan's or something small and popular on the grid,if this is ok?.

Cheers

First race in Mini was a fantastic way to cut my online GTL teeth so to speak,i thought 4th was good for me as well, the GTL Mini seems to be just as much fun as Race07 ones :thumb:.
I turned the heat up a bit for race 2 with the BMW CSL and sort of got to grips with it for 3rd start,Patrick and the other bloke in the lead took off ahead, even after Pat smacked into the barrier at La Source exit and lost his splitter,he could still pull away from me again, especially on straights even if i closed up a bit in the turn exits,my gearing must have been well off there, last lap i went spin crazy!!,thankfully a bit enough gap to hold 3rd for finish :thumb:.
Race 3 i went for the Capri RS and really struggled all through praccy and qual,on the last gasp try at qual i decided to take it more easy and brake earlier and just bank a lap,got a 1:45 for pole :D,scruffy bad start lost me places and a scary small nudge in the middle of Eau Rouge was a very focusing moment :p,but all good and away we go racing,i dont even know who everyone was, there was 2 GT40's and a CSL ahead now, great fun close battling, eventaully got my first place back and gradually got settled in with some good consitent laps, very happy with a win on my GTL maiden night,Awesome little sim this is indeed, many thank Warren and RD for the time and facilities, and to everyone there making it a nice healthy grid size of gent racers :thumb:.

Wow that was just brilliant fun. Great roll up of people, lots of different cars on display, and heaps of action. I hope everyone is getting the GTL bug now.

I suspect some found out that these cars are not easy to drive on the limit, but are such fun. Looks like we have some potential aliens too, based on this short intro. Patrick was all over me again in nearly every race, and he is a nooby at GTL. You picked the same cars as me, just to harrass me didn't you, mate. Again, some great close racing.

Results don't matter, it was designed to give everyone an introduction to GTL, but I managed a 1st, and a 2nd. :becky:

I hope everyone had fun and will join us for more classic old style driving.

PS: I think we have some great accident / crash material for screenshots. Please post some if you can.

First of all thanks Warren for putting this event together:thumb:
Thanks to all who raced, a great bunch of gents you were too:thumb::thumb:

Race 1
AC Cobra.

I'll get this out the way now. I am in love with this car!! Never drove it before, but the minute I revved it and heard the glorious 'popping' on the over-run, that was it.... So, anyhow, finished 2nd, highest I've finished an online race, very pleased, pipped on the last lap by Warren, who sat be behind me most of the race obviously sussing out my kung-fu and struck when the time was right:hail: The Cobra was very tricky in places so I found taking it smooth and easy to be the best strategy. P.S drive this for yourself and revel in the sound of the engine, I LOVE it!!!

Race 2 Porsche 914-6.

Didn't like this at all. Brakes were rubbish, twitchy Porsche handling. As I said elsewhere and now have definative proof - I ain't no Porsche driver:p

Race 3 Lotus Elite. (Gotta have a Lotus:thumb:)

Finished last by a country mile. However, I haven't laughed, grinned or enjoyed myself so much in racing ever! This car was brilliant, chuck it into any bend, brake ridiculously late, trail braking, left foot braking, nothing phased this car (and when it did I was being really stupid:D) Drifting, trying to lift wheels, I had a ball. Just catching the tail on the exit to Eau Rouge every time made me giggle uncontrollably:D

So, tonight I drove 3 new cars, had some terrific racing and got phoned up 2 hours before going to work to say my leave was granted and I've got my week off!! Life is good, see you at Donington.:thumb:

Simon. (A happy chappy.)

It was a funny event with this cars. I had a beautiful brawl in the second race in particular with jérôme :thumb: he was too fast for me...

thanks for this great event and i hope that there will be others like this one.

See you next time guys
ciao

No harassment there m8 :D All Love :becky:

  • Jerome Benard

Thanks all for there funny races. Goog race Alain with your little car.:D

See many of you on GTL TC65 League.

:thumb:

I had a great time and thanks to everyone for some fun racing.:D

I had never turned a lap in GTL until about 3 days ago and now I understand why so many people are still playing it after all these years... Amazing that it took me so long to find it. Thanks to Warren on that note.:thumb: However, stay away from that Jag MK II --- it's really a slug.

Also, until now I've only used paddle shifters. Now, I think I've finally found a use for that gear shift on my G25. These cars were made to shift with a regular shifter.:)

Until the next time...

Thanks guys...it sure was fun !!

My new PC system was a little to fast for GTL I think...first race my system crashed :D
Second and third went well, I had a terrible crash but with my car this time.

Patrick helped me sometimes to get a little bit faster in the corners...with a nice bump into the back of my car, thanks :pound:

Last race, last corner H.Sneep made a little mistake but I had not enough power to catch him.
We made some nice DONUTS together, didn't we Mister Sneep :p

Till next time all !!!!! ...and the coming LEAGUE ofcourse, thursday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hans

Yeah, was a fun race indeed (at least the one I raced)! Thanks for the organisation - and I like the mixed field races..

I signed up with an Escort for the first race but soon discovered that I'd be the only car with such fast times so in the last minute I switched to the Mini in the hope to get some close racing - sadly I had to step on the brakes a few times in the first two rounds to avoid spinning and from the gravel returning cars :p
So I was left alone after a crash of the Cortina in front of me and actually managed to catch the Mini in front of me (sorry, don't know who was in which car) but race was finished when I was close enough to even try to overtake.. one lap more - and maybe I would've crashed ;)

Looking forward to the league as well, I just don't know yet what car I will drive.
