24 Hours of Le Mans 2014: Horrible Crash Loic Duval Audi #1

If they can manage to pull that off, they can really wear their tagline "vorprung durch technik" with pride.

God, those mechanics will be wasted even before the race starts. Top job by the team.

By the WEC rules, it's not allowed to use a spare chassis/monocoque. However they (ACO) tend to pass a waiver when they are wrecked.
In 2013 Tracey Krohn destroyed his Ferrari, then went and 'borrowed' a GT3 car from Kessel Racing, rebuilt it to GTE spec and ran the race.

Audi will build up the car around a new monocoque, probably from spares on track, and bringing in new spares.

Marc Gene will move from the Jota LMP2 car and up to the #1Audi, while Oliver Turvey moves into the Jota-car.

Audi has a history with these kind of high speed crashes at Le Mans.

In 2011 reigning DTM champion Mike "Rocky" Rockenfeller had a violent one and walked away with a minor flesh wound.

Pretty safe cars, made in Germany

Not allowed to race due to doctors orders. I'm not surprised, it was a massive crash and I imagine this morning he's really going to be feeling it.

Glad he got out relatively unscathed though, that was a scary crash.

Edit: Whoops, missed the wall of text on the first post
