the longest distant race on the NASCAR Schedule

Well, not a terribly exciting race as Busch pretty much ran off with it. Was really pulling for McMurray at the end, if only to give Ganassi an Indy/Nascar sweep on the day. Good seats in Sect J of the GM grandstand as shown above.

Rented a scanner to listen to the drivers during the event (all frequencies are open) - Learned who was chatty and liked a lot of info every lap (Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne), who liked silence unless someone was inside/outside (Stewart), who complained the most about the car (Allmendinger) and who used the most colorful language the most often (Jimmie Johnson/Chad Knaus, by far - he was not having a good night, and was not liking Kyle Busch at all - kept it on his freqency a lot).
 
Magnussen - Starts 32nd
Ekstrom - Starts 37th

Highest qualifying "Road Course Specialist": Boris Said - 17th

My money is on: JPM
Others looking good: Stewart, Ambrose
 
Do you get to see the Nationwide (formerly Busch) series races? This weekend was first trip to Road America, and the first time into Turn 6 after one of the safety cars didn't go so well. (Looks like public server racing :)). Only available video is on Nascar.com:

BTW: Carl Edwards won, Canadian road course ace Ron Fellows 2nd. - For a while it looked like Jaques Villeneuve might run away with it, but he had mechanical problems in the last few laps.
 
Lots went on in that race... JJ wins, R. Gordon 2nd, Harvick 3rd.

Ambrose took himself out with 7 to go, had it won then cut the car off to save fuel and couldn't get it restarted heading up the hill. Finished 6th.

Eckstrom ran really well all day, only to be taken out of the top 10 by Keselowski in the closing laps. Magnussen finished 12th and Eckstrom 21st.

Gordon (Jeff), was a torpedo.
 
it was a great race to watch.....JPM coming from behind with smart strategy
JG being really aggressive....
and I was cursing at Marcos for that incident...I really wanted him to win (not Jimmy lol)
And Jan made a top 15.....great job by him

after Daytona two days ago some are probably wandering how they can win. Well first you have to know drafting. when you're at a track you can take full throttle all the way around it's anyone's race. Everyone is right up with eachother but they can fall back making wrong decisions. When you are behind someone you go faster. If you are in a line of ten cars you are in good shape. If you are in a line by yourself or by two people, most likly you are going to go to the back. Only way this works is if you are in the front of the pack and you have a great draft on the guy in front of you (very close to the bumper but not hitting it) you can pull out of line either by yourself or with someone behind you and slingshot the car and get back in line but you have to be positive you can get by.
When you think about drafting and superspeedway you think about Dale Earnhardt Sr., Dale Earnhardt JR., and Richard Petty. they have multiple wins at superspeed ways. But Dale Earnhardt SR. is the king of the superspeedways. He has the most NNS wins at daytona and won sveral firecracker 400s' and Talledaga races but 1 Daytona 500. This shows how hard it is to win at resticter plate tracks. so here are the main steps to win a superspeedway event and even the atcc at kw superspeedway if it's back on the schedule.
1. drafting is your biggest help. without any draft you will be in the back falling father back from the field. Always run with a group of many cars.
2. find a buddy. If you feel comfortable drafting with someone try to stay with him. He could be a big help at the end.
3. be there at the end. last 10 laps you need to really roll the dice. try to get in a line or start a line where people will follow like at 10th place nad back because they will follow you to get up to the front. If you can be about the second car in line you will have a big advantage to the straightaway as everyone behind you will follow you (remember to slingshot the guy in front of you). but don't try it when you line is fighting another because then you're line will slow down and not be able to win. Push the leader of the pack so you will be at the front and can make a move when you are clear.
4. always avoid the middle of the track. You do not won't to be here. it's a one way ticket to the back. one way you can send a car there is if you are on the inside lane go to the inside of him. Try to do this when you are almost at the corner becasue if no one follows you in the striaght then you will go to the back but in the corner they want to be at the bottom of the track so they will follow you. To do it on the outside lane do the same thing just pass on the outside.
that's about all the tips i can think of at the moment. if i can think of more i will post it here.
 
I suggest using Montoya style if you are not so patient at drafting, a little touch at the car ahead's door does the trick. He slides and causes a crash while you go away :D
