thanx for that....as i am new to all this it will come in handy
:)
1. Create Carbon Fibre
Create a new canvas with the size of 4×4 px, zoomed it to the max so you can easily fill the colors and insert the colors exactly like the color table below.
#242424 #1C1C1C
#1D1D1D #151515
#1A1A1A #222222
#131313 #1B1B1B
2. Define as Pattern
Click Edit -> Define Pattern and give it a pattern name. (Carbon Fibre for instance). Click OK to save it as a pattern.
3. Using Carbon Fibre Pattern
To test the carbon fibre pattern, create a new canvas with bigger size, 500×400px would be good. Click on Edit -> Fill (or Shift + F5), choose the carbon fibre pattern created just now, click OK and fill the section up. Here’s how your carbon fibre background should looks like:

I have tried to do that tutorial, but if the square its not absolutlely simetric, the pattern turns horrible.
I think this effect also can be done with real photos of carbon fibre at google with the same or better results
If you want to win, think on the road, keep a cool head and give you enough time to improve yourself
You could always cheat and download and use this one - looks good enough when rendered in game :thumb:

Sorry , I'm still confused. Why do we have to use the patterns? Is it a simple "'cos it looks better"?

Design is a passion,
The passion to design is mine.

Also, if you think a bit beyond just the carbon fibre gist of this, the above is the entire theory for building tiled patterns.
Think of it like this:-
Make a new file 64x64 pix.
Fill it with black.
Make a new file 32x32
Fill that with white.
Copy the white 32x32 square, paste it onto the black 64x64 image
Move that white layer to align to the top left corner of the black square
Paste again, and move the second white layer to align to the bottom right corner of the black square.
Flatten Image
Edit -> Define Pattern "checks"
Fill a mini's roof with the pattern, etc.

LOL, loving the ork-fied Mini, shouldn't there be plank and scrap effects though so it looks like spare 'parts' have been bolted on :D
