Assetto Corsa Racing League has given me a chance to face off very owns GT Academy Winner Wolfgang Reip in a straight race off. What an introduction that has been. You can see it right on this tape.

Zero respect for track limits in that video, ouch.

Are you saying I cut the track?!
  4. Bram
Dunno who it is but both the Nissan and the other car are crossing the white lines with four wheels quite a bit, so yeah that's cutting per our and real life racing rules at least.

I don't think we're talking about the same video here. I've been driving wheels on the white line in SLS for 99% of the time. The other car is not for me to discuss, but I did notice something strange in Aqua Minerale.
  6. Bram
We are talking about the same video. First full cut is already at 9 seconds where the SLS crosses the line with four wheels :)

It's not a cut if there was no gain, is it? I slipped the apex before 9 seconds, drifted out wide onto the curb. That's how the track is designed. Check the same corner next time when I hit the first apex, kept it right on the line.
  8. Bram
Just saying that per our and real life racing rules that would have been an illegal lap and a disqualification for cutting. The white lines mark the end of a track and you are allowed to run over them with maximum of two wheels.

You've obviously never raced on the limit. The way you don't understand the point which makes that was a small mistake and an obvious one proves it.

It doesn't seem you're following too much of real life racing either. The last time I've seen someone penalized for trans-passing track limits before Mayer-Malnof is A1 ring back in 2014.

You do hear commentry whinning about it on and on. And occasionally warnings sent out, but penalties, almost never.
  10. Bram
Wow, you can't handle simple facts very well do you :)

To get all the facts straight, it's not just one cut Niki, you cut ten times in just this tiny video.

    0:09 cut, 0:19 cut, 1:03 cut, 1:13 cut, 1:45 cut, 2:42 cut, 3:15 cut, 3:20 cut, 3:45 cut, 3:53 cut.

So before questioning my knowledge of regulations and/or motorsport passion have a look at your own video.

Well, it depends what you define cut Bram. Not everybody is unscrupulous like you. Let's put it this way. I was pushed by a cutting opponent. So, he cut more then me.

Exceeding track limits: Leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

This doesn't necessarily mean that you're shortcutting through corners (which you did through the pit straight) You have a wider turn radius by running onto curbing on exits. The wider the turn radius, then generally speaking the higher the speed, so I'd say most of those were cutting and wouldn't be allowed in real life or here.

P.S. you reedited some time codes. The outter edge of the tire is still 1mm on the ledge of white line, hanging onto the limit.

Man loosen up. Those are microscopic cuts. If you don't have any allowance, you're gonna end up having a headache amount of work to do in the league checking for cuts over and over again and be sure I'll be sticking my wheels inside the white line for most of the time too!
  16. Bram
That's all part of our job as race directors of a professional league. We love doing it so no worries.

Mate, where I come from, the rule we had was 2 wheels on curb at all times. It was same for everyone and it was used in F1 until 2007 too.

Times have changed I know that. I used to be leaving white lines 20cm-30 here and there. Now, I'm down to under 5cm for most part. But, by your standard that's not forgivable. Ok, challenge accepted. I'll do my utmost to respect you, the league and the rules and build a better feeling for track limits.

Again that's totally fine what you do in other leagues, even if you cut some corners with 50 centimeters be my guest.

I just commented on it with our rulebook in mind and also motivated why we don't allow it.

Well as I said I'm also speaking with mind of upcoming RD leagues. Challenge accepted to improve my own track limits management, you know. I certainly don't want to be on the short end of the stick. Might not be the worst thing you pointed it out afterall.
