Automobilista / Cart Extreme / Laguna Seca

Jason Palmer
Today i thought i would have a look at the latest version of the Cart Extreme mod for Automobilista converted and updated by Patrick Giranthon, who is well know for quality mods for both Game Stock Car and now Automobilista.

The latest version of this mod is 1.11 and builds on the original 1.0 release that features,

Full CART 1998 field (28 cars)
4 unique chassis (Reynard, Lola, Swift & Penske)
4 engines (Honda, Ford, Mercedes, Toyota)
2 tyre manufacturers (Firestone & Goodyear)
4 chassis specifications for road, short oval and speedway tracks
4 or 5 boosts (depends on tracks, roads, 4, Ovals, 5)

I also chose to race these beasts around the classic Laguna Seca track with infamous cork screw.

After two hours of spinning out at this track i was beginning to question my track selection but once you start to get a handle on these cars and the required careful application of the throttle when coming out of the slower corners it does start to click, and thats when this mod comes into its own.

This mod does require some real practice along with some setup tweaks before you can start to push the car closer to the limit, or over it in my case ! but boy does it feel good trying to find that fine line between hitting that apex or that wall and once you get over the power and torque of the engine you can start to feel the beautifully crafted physics of the chassis and suspension that make these cars so nice to drive.

Both the cart mod and this track really do feel like official content and for grand total of nothing i think you have to give this mod a try if you own this sim title.
