The GT5 Prologue Hot Lap Challenge

Gentlemen start your engines! The format is simple, each week a car and track will be chosen to run hot laps. Starting Saturday 12pm GMT and finishing the following Saturday 12pm GMT you will be invited to submit your lap times for that challenge. Once the challenge deadline is met the slowest placed driver gets to pick the car and track for the following week (this is usually me!)

Taking part is simple, fire up GT5 Prologue and select the car for the challenge, click on 'Arcade' in the menu then choose the track and then select 'Time Trial' from the menu and then select the settings shown below:

Transmission - Manual
Active Steering - Off
Driving Physics - Professional
Active Stability Management (ASM) - Off
Traction Control - Off
Driving Line - Off
Front Tyres - Sports S2
Rear Tyres - Sports S2

Once you've selected that you can then start hot lapping, look at the online leaderboards or load a ghost lap. There are no tuning options so everyone runs the same setup.

To make it fair and competitive please don't cut the track or abuse the run off area's to gain an advantage, at least half the car should be on the track at all times and on street tracks don't use the barriers to give you an unfair advantage, the idea of the hot lap challenges is to run clean laps in the fastest time possible.

I'll post the first challenge tommorow so you will have time to earn some credits to buy the required car for the challenge though to ensure we can include as many people as possible I have a relatively cheap car in mind coming in at under 60,000 credits.

I have bought the GT Tuned Ford GT, but it is surprisingly crap. That's 200,000 down the drain. I'd love to do this, but can't use a wheel downstairs :(

Sell it Mark, you can buy a handful of Mitsubishi's for challenge 1 and have a lot more fun :)

This weeks challenge is in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR '07 at Fuji Speedway F. A 2.84 mile circuit with 16 corners and a long straight almost a mile in length. Please post your times in this thread with your forum username and PSN ID.

I only get like 50,000 for selling it. What a rip-off. Anyway, I'll get the EvoX so :)

I'll find a way to play the PS3 with the wheel, don't worry man :)

I'm well off the world record which is 1'54.209 compared to my current best of 1'57.624 which places me a lowly 194th in the world for that car and track.

Not bad, that's out of a good few thousand :)

And frankly, with the console racers anyway, there's always an exploit that someone finds.

Edit: I believe I can get a HDMI - DVI adapter so I can use the G25 effectively :D

The good thing with GT5P is that it is quite strict at voiding your lap if you try to use too much of the track and run off area's to gain an advantage. The other good thing is that the top 10 drivers all have ghost replays you can download and watch and see where they are making the time. I know I can squeeze a few more tenths somewhere and think poor lines through the last few corners is whats causing me trouble.
