Rally - WRC 2 Test - Monday 4th & Tuesday 5th February 2013

Finished 2 stages, again, had problems with a wheel on 1 of the unfinished stages (and 1 one on a finished stage) and others were just either small misjudgment of speed or similar. On Lipatkov my wheel went slightly off center for no apparent reason, done it to me about 4-5 times today and also had the same but even more pronounced problem couple of stages earlier on Hygget, after the little chicane at the start center just moved 45 degrees to right and stayed there even though even the ingame wheel was straight. Anyway fun car to drive :)

Well the fact I've finished says everything I think!

Think the Escort Cosworth didn't turn out to be as good a car as I hoped. Handled well and good power but incredibly fragile! Set it on fire twice! Second time I only hit a movable sign! Don't remember it being that bad before...

So yeah can't really say much I'm afraid! The Finland BTB track (SS6) seemed to load well considering its size but the two Sweden ones were a bit laggy for me, but that might just be my GPU as it struggles on the Czech stages now.

So my tip from this, the Escort Cosworth is only for people who know they wont go off even a little! Same story with the Sierra BTW, found out while testing.

Thanks to all and good to see the big numbers out there!

I don't know why, but I thought that the rally's local start for me will be 10 PM, while in real it was 9 PM...epic fail, lol.

Anyway, driving the Fiesta RRC I had a good feeling. It's quite good. :)

thanks

edit..
ive just had a look and it does say 9pm on my rscentre, why would that be?

Bad start crashing out of first stage
all was good til the fifth stage where this happend
RichardBurnsRally_SSE2013-02-0420-56-22-89_zps9263132f.jpg

and the last stage crashed out only 2 km in

Some issues with a new keyboard meant I minimised the game before the start of one stage, and somehow the Tuna stage did not load for me, it stayed in the game's menu, (looking ate the rally school garages) but i suspect it was due to me not properly closing rbr from the previous crash.

All in all think I only finished one stage, crashed out at the very end of two of them, and made it at least past the 2nd split at Ouninpohja!

I was very impressed with the times i could compare, i never had such good splits in a Club or championship rally ever, and since i'm no natural I suspect that the evo 9 R4's performance is much better than I anticipated. Really enjoyed driving it (a lot more than the evo TME I drove last season) so maybe they really are a lot different than regular group N cars. Let's see how the other R4 drivers do :)

Thank you guys for organising a very popular and cool event! (see you in the real rally sweden this weekend? ;)

Have you tried the "Set Specific Resolution for this stage" button in RSRBR? I think it automatically adjusts the track to those settings anytime it loads, could be helpful.

I'm gonna be switching to OC session.

I finally finished the Ouninpohja stage yesterday, for the first time after many attempts. :p Definitely looking forward to the rally, I think I've improved a lot just practicing that stage, it really teaches you how important pacenotes are.

I'm also going to swtich to the OC session. It was a hectic day today.

Sion Williams In RSRBR 2013, you have the option to adjust resolution and graphics (no idea what the graphics changes does...) for each stage. So if any stage lags, you might be able to fix that, by making an unique setting for that stage! it's worth a shot :)

And yes, the Ouninpohja stage are extremely well optimized!

A pretty good run disregarding SS6 where a 90 degree corner about 8km's into the stage blind braking on the top of the crest after I "Oh ****, I'm allready here". Almost managed to salvage it but went into some trees waiting for me very close to the road. This was where I went off the in my 5th practice run before the event, about 1km later than where the first 4 ended :O_o:

SS1 - Greenhills:

No real problems to report beside some stupidly positioned photographers in a fast right left section where I came steaming to hot, understeer and went into them.....
Can't remember the time but considering that misstake I was happy with it for a first time with snow on that stage. :D
Was a bit faster than Simon as I think he made a misstake somewhere

SS2 - Fraizer Wells:

No problems at all to report, went well and didn't make any misstakes beside going a bit to slow over some crests, but for it being my first time on the stage in over 1.5 years I'm pretty happy with the time :)
Was about 4 sec slower than Simon in his Mini

SS3 - Hygget:

The one of the Swedish stages where I though that I would do worst but I got almost all of it right, made one small misstake when I missjudged the gear I should take on of the corners in and had to avoid one of those famous Power Poles around a farm ;)
Time was good, pretty happy with the pace I had there :)

SS4 - Tuna:

The Stage where I thought I would be flying and I was flying until I missed it a bit when coming through over the crest where you can cut a bit in a right left, the following braking zone I went onto the grass with the left side of the car and I said hello to the iron fence that stopped me from going down the slope. Lost around 14 seconds trying to get it back around and going again as I did a 180 when I hit the fence.
Frustrated with my misstake I overdrove it and made more misstakes that cost me some time. a 57, I think it was 3 or 4 minutes and 57 seconds, horrible but only 15 seconds slower than my PB so considering my misstakes it was still allright :)
Simon went off somewhere I think as he was a lot slower than me on one of the Swedish stages and then he got some time on me on the other one, can't remember which of them though :geek:

SS5 - Liptakov:

First off, I had some trouble loading the stage and when it had loaded it showed the ground in the sky as well but it was drivable so no worries there :)

This was the stage that I was dreading as earlier during the evening when practicing I had gone off every time I tried it so tried to be cautious and I think it worked.
Got to the finishline and hadn't totalled the car either so very happy with that. :roflmao:

SS6 - Ouninpohja:

Was going well until situation explained above happened :)

For a first outing in the RD club and my first ever online rally I'm pretty happy with how it went :)

I will definitly be there for more of these, it was good fun, will try to be available when the Norwegians are running so I have someone to talk to between stages, felt a bit lonely at time :whistling:

Navitori aka Jonatan out
