Nonononononoononnoononononononooo there are already far too many stupid street circuits, let's not add another one. Silverstone is an amazing track, so let's just keep that as the British GP for a very long time.
Yes Silverstone stays. Their contract runs until 2027. 17-year deal starting 2010. Makes sense James and Alberto, London would take over the Euro GP crown and Valencia/Catalunya alternates as the Spanish GP.
The track layout and the track features don't seem too bad but it just seems unrealistic having a night track in London for the European GP.
Will probably the suffer the same problems Valencia does. It's a good concept on paper, but the track design and nature of street circuits for F1 cars will mean that overtaking will be severely hurt.
Come on let's leave the street tracks alone there is enough of them in the calendar, and what's wrong with a purpose built track? About the london track it seems a good concept but I think the Arch would never make it in today's morden day safety standards (too much of a danger). Don't know about the racing in a track like this, it has some long straight's but I still think it will be difficult to pass.
They layout looks like what happens when Singapore rapes Silverstone (dont get me wrong, i'm absolutely love both tracks). Pretty funny to hear BMW F1.07 engine sounds in video
It doesn't seem worse than many circuits, some parts are Adelaide-ish. But the arch part is just a NO-NO. I don't know it rerouting through Spring gardens (either side) is possible.
The layout reminds me of Adelaide, but what I don't understand is how they think they can add the sections at 0:28 and 1:35, when the track narrows dramatically.
This layout will be crap for overtaking. Straight > chicane > straight > right-hander > straight... Etc. Boring!
Or has a more comprehensive opinion than 'its oresome'. Street circuits are already criticized for their lack of overtaking. But by all means, be as judgemental as you like. It's easier than asking why someone might not want this.
Although great idea for British fans, I think this is just a smoke screen by Bernie to get the bribery probe out off the public's head and maybe gain some favor by the authorities.
Silverstone is great for overtaking. It's one of the tracks where DRS is really unnecessary because there are plenty of spots where an overtake is possible. Last year, Silverstone was one of the tracks with the lowest percentage of DRS overtakes.
