Objects to BTB terrain - zaxxon method

Hi Kennett,
I just want to remark that this thread is about a special use of the scripts, not about the normal use. Ehrlec explains here how he uses my scripts to import a 3D object into BTB. But as I said, what he explains is not the normal use of the scripts.

If you mean that my method is very fragmented, once you download the scripts using subversion (instructions here
http://btbtracks-rbr.foroactivo.com/tutoriales-f31/zaxxon-s-method-tutorial-t131.htm) there is a folder "documentation" with the most updated info about the scripts. There is no need to download files from mediafire or other file servers. But may be you mean that you can't download the files needed to follow ehrlec's special use of the scripts.

Thanks for quick reply but unfortunately i mean the links in there are dead, for ex WP XPack: mediafire.com mediafire.comz2tcoh4wyxj is dead and that pretty much stops everything right there. That link BTW looks very odd... Everything just goes very fragmented very soon, i'm no stupido but i get lost about... well, right from the beginning. I don't have a clue what are the steps required to load the script, could be that the answer is in that WP XPack file so....

My goal is to add this to Simtrackipedia but this method needs to be cleaned up, links checked etc, and at this state this is... how should i put it... useless. Which is not the state i believe you would like it to be, so let's work together on this?

EDIT: All Ehrlec's files are set to private so i can't get your project files from there either.

You are right. The links are weird and wrong but apparently only if you are not logged in the forum. Log in and links will work ok (at least they do for me).

Nevertheless, if the weird link is
http://******/246619/http://www.mediafire.commediafire.com/?z2tcoh4wyxj
you can conclude that the correct link is:
http://www.mediafire.com/?z2tcoh4wyxj

You can also download WP.zip from http://www.mediafire.com/?qs4n4ug28qiypk5

In my opinion the best way to get an idea on how the scripts work is watching a videotutorial. I link below an updated one using AGR elevation data. For other sources of elevation data the steps are quite similar.

Install of the Grahical Interface (Videotutorial):Download (wink source)
(extract files and open gui.htm with a web browser. Flash player required.)

Videotutorial. 1/3 (2 tracks using AGR elevation data): :Download (wink source)
Videotutorial. 2/3 (2 tracks using AGR elevation data) : Download (wink source)
Videotutorial. 3/3 (2 tracks using AGR elevation data) : Download (wink source)

Files used within the videotutorial: Download

Thank you absolutely a million times, this was excactly what i was hoping, updated and working links for all. Forums that mess with links for unregistered users are not the correct place to post tutorials, it only makes the user to register to a site that he/she will never use, a common err in many websites... My policy is, if you're stuff can't be linked publicly, make it private but here i am complaining again when i should be thanking for the umpteenth times...

With you permission, i'll add this info to Simtrackipedia.

I don't think it is on purpose. You can create a forum for free but they show advertisements when people click on the links. Their system to include the ads is failing but it has nothing to do with the administration of the forum (I am one of the administrators). Other forums hide the links if you are not logged in, but this is not the case.

Bump!

What happened here? ehrlec's first post just says "link", so presumably it's been edited but there's no reason given. And either Pangaea's been talking to himself or some posts have been deleted.

I have a problem with octave (I think). I can't open zgui. Any suggestion?

Hi, I have a big problem with the zaxxon method for btb. When importing the venue.xml i have the track that is so far from the centre. in the first pic you can see it that is approximately 228 kilometers far from the center. But when i look at the kml imported i can see thet the error begins from here (I think). Suggestions? Thank you!

A work around in 3dsimed is to go to Edit - Transform - Translate - Object Centers - Bottom Center Objects.

Select an object of the track and note its coordinates.

Ctrl drag to select all track and terrain. Go to Edit - Transform - Translate and input (rather large) numbers to move selection .

Meanwhile I will see if I can find out where in the method it decided to do a soft shoe shuffle miles from base!

When you import your first data into the Normal window "s0_import" you get a window appear like the above and you can see the 0.0 - 0.0 references. So the method centers the track at 0 - 0 there. Perhaps if you re run the start of the method you may see if it happens with your track.

I figured this out too... :D

Zaxxon said: "The messages say that your mesh exceeds your available elevation data. So you can not give elevation to all the points of your mesh and you can not continue with the process. For this reason it is always interesting to include the limits of the available elevation data in your .geo so your mesh does not exceed it."

this was the problem.
