So I saw the news that Bathurst had been licensed and I was like

  1. I hope a NASCAR driver will tweet that he will be bringing driver swapping to iRacing

    Because they swap like... never?

It would be nice if there were driver swaps. I am part of a LFS team that often started to endurance events, we even put down our name for the iRacing endurance championship. Although it has been some time now...

    Also picked up from iRacerstuff.com.....

Tracks coming next are Langley in June (which we already know about), Zolder in August, Oran Park September or October. iRacing plans to scan Rockingham (US) and another Oval this year.

I thought that was me :p

Im hoping they can bring out a good tight street circuit soon. Long Beach would be good. Its probably the one type of track not in the game that Im really missing at this point. Either that, or a modern F1 circuit. Istanbul would be cool for instance, as its no longer on the calender it should be easier for them to obtain.

They have scanned Long Beach (quite some time ago) but with all the trackside detail they were saying it would bring some machines to their knees FPS wise. They are still hopeful they will be able to get a release done, but no ETA has been given.

Rockingham Speedway in NC is being scanned by iRacing.

They set out on 12th June to go and get their data.
  2. No swap/teams in next build, but maybe league system.

The McLaren is going to be a great addition to current GT series. I watched the iRacingTV Episode 13 yesterday and I am quite concerned that they said nothing about advanced tire modelling. I've tried rFactor 2 recently and I was amazed when I made my first flatspot and heard the gravel falling off the tire after I went off track. It adds A TON of immersion if you ask me.

But I think they're on the right track. I can live without weather system, but I think they should add these little things (like the flagman they shown), flatspotting, flashing lights and dynamic racing enviroment. Looking very forward to the next build!

    Quick info from the episode,
    • Thruxton, Mallory Park, Croft, Snetterton deals signed.
    • On their way to scan Rockingham Speedway (US).
    • Re-doing the Modified car, NTM and physics.
    • Legends car will get an NTM update.
    • Zolder - July/August.
    • Oran Park - September or October.
    • Trying to add shaders for a "handful" of tracks for the next build.
Tracks in order: (could be more then that)
    1. Indianapolis
    2. Iowa
    3. SPA
    4. Thompson
    5. Watkins
    • Animated flaggers coming next build. Starting with the Start/Finish line-guy, hopefully they will get course flaggers in as well.
    • League project will be released next build.
    • Driver swaps/Endurance racing, high priority no timeline given. Definitely not in the August build.

Also they are testing the staging.iracing.com this coming weekend.

Important Stuff: Alternate URL - http://staging.iracing.com
Username and password - same as your regular members account
    Time of test event - 14:00 GMT 6.23.12 - 14:00 GMT 6.24.12
Time of Main Event - 20:00 GMT
Your browser might complain about the sites certificate. As this is a test with no credit card information, you may ignore the warning.

    More details here - http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/1993252.page

Looks like once it is past all the testing, it will be an 'alternative environment' where iRacing members can go and spend their virtual $200 and buy and try content they don't already own in the actual iRacing service before parting with their real money. Seems a good idea to me.
