iRacing optimal wheel settings

This is a c/p from iRacing not written by me, posted here for convenience to you guys.

By Julien Apruzzese. Short note: David Tucker is the man working on the FFB for iRacing.

Hi friends,

instead of keeping on posting in each thread, i decided to write this short post in order to give to the community the optimal FFB settings.
These setting are not based on feeling, but on scientist approach developped by David Tucker.
The driver settings are supposed not to be changed since the goal is to play only with the in sim sliders.
For the driver settings, the goal is to achieve the best linearity.

For TR500 driver.

Damping in sim.

From 0 to 20% (you can start at 75%, since it was the value hard coded before the release, and go down 5% by 5% day after day, since damping masks FFB details).
It is recommended to set it at 0.

FFB in sim.

The value needs not to go up a maximal value that you can find using this method following :
http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/1488137.page
So you can adjust the slider between 0 and this found maximal value in order to match the different torques from the different wheels.
This maximal value is not dependent on the wheel ! It's dependent on the car, the setup and the track.

It is strongly recommended to recalibrate the wheel and to redo it each new build.
Take time to calibrate it slowly and when iRacing ask you to put your wheel at center or at 90°, take time to show to the simulation the exact center or 90° of your real wheel, not what you see on your screen !
Moreover this build seems very sensitive to the steadiness of our PC and i can stop to hardly recommend you to make a total format of your PC to welcome 2.0.

Here is some examples of the FFB in sim maximal value.

Cadillac at Motegi.

FFB iRacing maximal value : 8.0
So adjust the FFB for your personnal preference between 0.1 and 8.0.

MX5 Cup at Suzuka.

FFB iRacing maximal value : 16.0
So adjust the FFB for your personnal preference between 0.1 and 16.0.

Up to you then to play between 0 and these maximal value in order to match the different torque of each wheel. The G25/27 being the wheel with the weakest motors, in certain situations, it can happen that the wheel don't developp enough torque. We can't do nothing since it's the technical limitation of our wheel today. So you have 2 choices (always by respecting the driver settings written on the first post : either taking the choice to saturate a little the FFB in order to find again a little more torque on the FFB details, or add a little damping between 0 and 20% in order to add weight to the wheel but you will mask a little the details of the FFB.

Let's go racing :D

FFB feels notchy and awful in this sim compared to the benchmark,Automobilista.

Using a G27.

I am using the Wheel checker but can't remember what to do with the values.

Depression kicking in.
