I think that it would take Gods hand to make a conversion to any mod, you can really see where they took 4 years to make this track, there would be no quick way of converting this track, without horrendous sparkling. So it for the time being means we have to dust of the GPL disks, I have and I am now down in the 43 mins but not in the Dino in the 67s. It is a matter of severe concentration and pushing where you can see there are no sharp turns, my first full lap was 49 minutes, I know I can break the 40 minutes barrier, need to be braver in some parts.

Immense sense of joy when I finally made a lap without going off or having to reset the damn car, also on my first outing I had set the damage to the usual macho level of realistic, in hindsight that was a tad over optimistic, I did not manage to get more than 20k before I was nursing a badly mangled car, then to finally eat it, at the not so fast kink on the the straight whilst approaching the end of the lap. Note to self, reign in the machismo next lap.

I do think though the GPL boys should make a Vespa mod next, I would love to poodle around the track, taking in the sights, maybe stopping for a bite to eat in one of the small towns.:rotfl:

Make sure you have the 1.3, 67 update and copy the Gem+ into the GPL secrets folder in the program data, you need to launch GPL via Gem+ to be able to run TARGA FLORIO.

I have a GT3 RS Wheel and an actlabs shifter I spent 5 bloody days trawling
sites to try to get the shifter set up with this wheel. Well worth the effort though, I am not however running on vista or windows 7, one of the benefits of having multiple boot drives.

SMRZ has now posted the updates for the other mods to be able to run on this awesome track.

Grand Prix Legends Preservation Society

With the STC race at Rouen this week i decided to dig out a golden oldie in Grand Prix Legends and after some homework i found a site with a loader to help me instal it in Windows 7 :fingers-crossed: and it worked a treat on my 64bit system :woop: :woop:
Did a few laps and now find myself wanting to do more :wink2: i had totally forgotten just how good this sim was and it goes to show how little we have moved on in the 8 or 9 years since it was released.

For those that want to dig out their disk and give it a blast then here are some links

Amazing

This was my first racing game. I bought it when if first came out and got so addicted. It took me a month of practice to beat the AI and the online racing was just outstanding. I raced this game for five years straight! I found that once your became proficient at driving GPL you could drive any racing game with no problem. I also raced Nascar and it was a piece of cake after driving GPL.

Grand Prix Legends PC

I was watching a doc. about Graham Hill and it really got me thinking about GP Legends - a game I only played as a demo years back; what it would be like to race those guys, in those cars, on those tracks - and I've just found it for £4.85 at Zavvi (Sold Out version).

Since it's pretty bloody old though:

Will it work on Win 7 64bit?
Will it work with my Ferrari F430 USB Wheel?
Will it work with Track IR 4?
Have there been any mods released that update textures and the like?

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

OK - I found the demo and everything works apart from Track IR (the blue/green light doesn't come on). The game is insanely hard though - I need to see if I can master the cars to a certain extent before buying the game - any hints?

Cliched as it sounds, slow in, fast out and get everything done in a straight line. It is difficult but very rewarding, treat the controls gently and you find you get quicker - and it's massively addictive still. Have fun :)

I did not know that there was a GPL forum here. There are still many "dinosaurs" which use this game
Personally I have had never find better than that for 10 years… Each week I am on VRoc :D

In 2008 I even made a beautiful WR on Monza with Eagle, LOL!

Alek.

Threre is always a very active league , with dedicated servers, high level championship, etc...

You could find there complete installations with all updates included, tracks add on etc...
Jackseller is a incredible modder. You have to believe me.
If you like GPL as I like it, it is a "must" website and league.

I don't race there anymore, because I have no time for that. But Otherwise, I wil lrace for sure with them.
I will never thanks enough Jackseller for what he has done for the GPL community.

Nice information and thanks for sharing this information about this game which is very informative to me and as well as others so please keep sharing.

one off race anyone??
I've raced in a GPL league for years, sadly it doesnt run any more but I know there is still interest on the forum im part of.
I'm planning a race in the next month or so, we have a server, rule structure and good drivers just need a few more drivers.
It's basically just going to be the 67 mod with 64 fps patch and that is it.
i'll keep you all posted

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

Hello,

I am experiencing a problem with GPL and my controllers. The problem is, GPL wants to see only the first controller to assign it to steering axis. I have multiple USB devices plugged in(5 to be exact). The order of my devices is as follows:

Controller ID# 1 = Thrustmaster TH8RS H-Gate Shifter
Controller ID# 2 = Belkin Nostromo gaming keypad
Controller ID# 3 = ECCI 7000 FFB Steering Wheel
Controller ID# 4 = CST Pedals by Todd Cannon
Controller ID# 5 = Virtual Joystick created with PPJOY

.....GPL thinks that my TH8RS Shifter is my "wheel" and assigns it as axis 0. Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell Windows 7 to rearrange the order of my hardware ID#s.

So, with that being said, is there a way for me to tweak some kind of ini file, in order to tell GPL to ignore the first two USB devices connected to my machine? Or....some sort of utility out there that will tell GPL that I want my ECCI 7000 FFB wheel to be assigned to axis 0(steering), and my CST pedals as axis 1(throttle, brake)? For the record, I downloaded GPLShift and that doesn't seem to help my cause :(

Please help guys, because it will be impossible to proceed any further and play the game this way :(

Sorry to bump this thread, but I was wondering if I could get some help with something. The in-car steering wheel doesn't match exactly what my G25 is doing, as the game seems to be compensating for certain forces for me, even with steering assist disabled. Does this sound right to you guys? Am I missing something?

Well, the wheel in-game only has 270 degrees of rotation or something so... (These cars had 540°, which is what I'm using and it doesn't quite match, especially in tight corners)

Don't forget to put the slider in the controls to "linear" aswell :)

Also don't know if already done, but you might want to check out the "GPL Shift" plugin !
