Laverty had 1 hell of a race absaloutely brilliant race, that bike is so quick its unreal. slipstream everytime. took it calm last lap in 2nd place last corner slipstream on the straight absaloutely belting race. I sat the whole race biting me nails off was a pleasure to watch hopefuly more to come from the brits keep it more exciting for us!!

Roll on Valencia

Woohoo! I watched all 3 SBK races and the Supersport one was definitely the most exciting, especially with an Ulsterman winning :D

Superbikes itself was also good a great double by Spies, he is really showing to be a real contender for the title. Pretty disappointed with Rea but its only his 2nd SBK round, it will take time :)

Round three this weekend from valencia..........

Valencia WSB Biaggi's Aprilia heads Yamaha and Ducati
By Mike Nicks

World Superbikes

03 April 2009 16:42

Max Biaggi underlined the amazing out-of-the-box speed of Aprilia's new RSV4 by finishing the first qualifying session for the third round of the World Superbike championship in first place.

On the same day that the road version of the 1,000cc machine was launched at Misano in Italy, Biaggi lapped the 2.487-mile Valencia circuit in Spain in 1m 34.775s to lead Yamaha’s Ben Spies by just 0.132s.

Championship leader Noriyuki Haga finished third quickest on his Xerox Ducati, a thousandth of a second off Spies’ pace, from Michel Fabrizio on the second factory Ducati.

Britain’s Tom Sykes crashed late in the session, but had already cut a 1m 35.270s lap on his Yamaha R1 to make him fifth fastest. Joanthan Rea was ninth quickest on his Hannspree Ten Kate Honda, but the next fastest Brit was Leon Haslam in 14th place on his Stiggy Honda.

Such is the pace in this year’s championship that Haslam was only 0.760s off provisional pole. Shane Byrne was 19th best on the Sterilgarda Honda and Tommy Hill (Altea Honda) 27th fastest.

John Hopkins, making his WSB debut, lapped in 1m 35.868s – 1.093s off Biaggi’s pace – to claim 18th position. On the new BMW S1000 RR, Troy Corser was 13th fastest, but only 0.741s off pole.

Ben Spies' hopes of continuing his perfect run of World Superbike pole positions looked in jeopardy when he was forced to park his number one Yamaha after a technical problem during Superpole 2 at Valencia on Saturday.

It meant that the American rookie went into the top eight shootout on his unfamiliar spare bike, but the change ended up being a blessing in disguise as the set-up of that machine turned out to be better than on his preferred R1.

“Yeah I was actually a little worried about [the bike change],” Spies said afterwards. “We had an okay second Superpole but coming in we had a problem with the bike and had to switch to the back-up bike.

“It had a different set-up on it, that I didn't get to try in free practice, so I was a little but worried going into the third Superpole.

“Luckily I think we found a little time with the change so I'm looking forward to trying it again in the morning [warm-up] and seeing if we can get a little more speed out of it.”

Spies set a record-breaking 1min 33.270sec lap on his back-up bike, placing the AMA champion a massive 0.685sec clear of nearest rival Regis Laconi (DFX Ducati) for a perfect third Superpole victory in a row.

Spies is amazing:love:

As an Aprilia owner myself, I was really hoping for more from Biaggi. But I guess two 8th place finishes aren't bad, considering he started from 18th.

Was also happy to see Hopper get on fairly well with Honda on his first time out. He might have potential in this series.
