Spies wil replace Toseland as he wil take the place of Ben on the yamaha at the WSBK in 2010.

Both did not what whas expected of them.

Rossi World Champion of 2009

Vallentino Rossi is MotoGP Champion 2009.

With just a 5th place he hat enough points to take his 9th World Championship title on 2 wheels.

Casey Stoner drove a very strong race and won the GP.
With this he secured a 3th place in the championship.

Suppo to leave Ducati after Valencia

Ducati MotoGP project manager Livio Suppo will leave the team after the season finale at Valencia this weekend.
Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport has reported rumours that Suppo is moving to the factory Honda team, but that has not yet been confirmed.
Ducati's general director, Claudio Domenicali, praised Suppo's work for the Italian manufacturer since 1999 and admitted that he will be a big loss to the team.
"Livio has meant a great deal to Ducati," said Domenicali. "He has been a loyal and valuable colleague but above all a great friend. We are very sorry that he has decided to leave the company
"In light of his correctness, professionalism and the great contribution he has made to the growth and success of the MotoGP project and the Ducati brand, we can only offer him our very best wishes as he takes on a new professional challenge."
Domenicali revealed that the team will be restructured after Suppo's departure, with Alessandro Cicognani taking over as project manager, alongside current Ducati test rider Vittoriano Guareschi, who will become team manager.

Aprilia not in new Moto2 class

Aprilia will not participate in the new Moto2 class.

The Italian brand refuses to build the new Honda 600 CC engines in their frames.
This engine is mandatory in the new Moto2 class witch will start in the 2010 season.
The driver with the biggest loss in this is 125CC world champion Julian Simon.
The Spanish rider would have taken place on the new Aprilia but now has to look for another ride.

During the month of December the members of RaceDepartment all voted for their favourite drivers to decide who was the Best Driver of the Year 2009.

After a close finish where Valentino Rossi and Sebastien Loeb were fighting for the win until the last day, it was "The Doctor" who finally took the victory with over 30% of the votes. The MotoGP World Champion is one of the most successful motorcycle racers of all time, with 9 Grand Prix World Championships to his name.

Sebastien Loeb, currently driving for the Citroën Total World Rally Team in the World Rally Championship, is a six-time world champion and finished in very close attendance to Rossi (27%).

There was a significant gap to fresh Formula One World Champion Jenson Button (15%), the Briton finished in a respectable third place overall.

Typical Doctor,he can win the vote with a very so-so season by his standards im sure he would agree,for me Ben Spies was the main star champ of 09 and his prize for shining so bright is a chance to go race against The Doctor and co. thats more like a punishment than a reward? lol .

"... one of the most successful" ... think he is THE most successful now statistically (??) - didn't he overtake Giacomo Agostini the former title holder for the total number of wins earlier this year??
He is a total racing god - my personal racing hero, he pretty much dominated proceedings over the past 10-12 years but and unlike Doohan and the Shoemaker, he made almost every single race and victory during this time exciting for the fans.
A most deserved champion ... hurrah!

I think Giacomo Agostini still is the most succesful Grand Prix racer of all times. But Rossi is getting pretty close now. And Rossi's performance is done in the modern racing era which makes it even more impressive.

Rossi has the most 500cc/MotoGP (top) class wins ... Ago has the most wins in all classes AFAIK, but due to the format of yesteryear, beating that title is a nigh on impossibility these days ... (EDIT: not too many to go though, from memory only about 18 or 20, but a good couple of seasons work :veryhappy
Rossi's "podiums per starts" in all classes is something close to 75%, with nearly 46% of these being on the top step - that statistic gets even better if you look at just 500cc/MotoGP.

He has 19 to go to equal Giacomo - I'm not sure he'll do it. Rossi's achievement is much greater however. There is no doubt that he is the greatest rider of all time. There are not many sports in which you can come to an almost unanimous agrrement on who the GOAT is, but motorcycling is one of those.
