RACE Series Movies

Hey guys what's the best free/OS recording program for making movies? I currently use the free version of fraps, but that is limited to 30 second clips which is a massive pain in the arse trying to put together full videos!

Also is there a better (again free) movie maker than WMM? I quite liked the version on Vista but the W7 version is horrible to use...
i paid for frapps its worth it.... then couldnt find a free movie maker
Martin Leyfield poated this one Use virtualdub (virtualdub.org) for pre editing before youtube editor. ( it works very good )

I have expensive video editors (Nero, Sony Vegas, and Adobe Premier Pro CS3) but I prefer virtualdub.

Advantages of virtualdob
  • Unlike most video editors the rendered video is the same quality as the original video recordings.
  • Most video editors have a small low quality preview. Virtual dub shows the video in orignal size and quality.
  • It's the only video editor which lets you move backwards and forwards through your time at any speed. You can watch a 10 minute video in reverse in 10 seconds if you want (at 30FPS) or you can move frame by frame (ideal for smoothing out lag when a car stays still for half a second or so).
  • It is avalable as a portable app ( http://portableapps.com/ ). This means you can run it from a USB stick without installing it (handy if you want to run it on a friends computer, your employers computer, or a computer in a public library).
  • There is a 64bit version available. This lets you render and do other things at the same time without any delay (if you have the CPU and memory).
Mixing game sound with music
Whilst recording via Windows sound recorder or audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/), play your music via Windows Media player and play your finished video at the same time. Save the recorded sound. In virtualdub choose 'Audio from another file' from the Audio menu. If for any reason the car noises are out of synch with the video then choose Interleaving from the Audio menu.

Circuit test: Oulton Park 1960.
Download from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?iovd8ov1mno4451
I got this link from a friend who got it from his friend who can't remember where he got it from. I can't find the file on the internet other than the above link. Maybe it has been converted without permission? Racedepartment have used the rFactor and GTL versions:

http://www.racedepartment.com/forum...cars-60s-oulton-park-tue-17th-jan-2012.45766/

If this circuit is used for Race07 club (good for Retro, production cars, or Formula Ford I think) then maybe get permission from the GTL\rFactor version track builder.

No editing in this video: I drive and record (via fraps) whilst listening to I Want You (She's So Heavy) by The Beatles. Sorry it's only 480pixel. Track looks good at 720pixel.

Teamspeak banter at wet Monza.
This is the race I escaped from the grid due to my button for looking backwards being stuck down.
Did not get time to do race video using replay; this is something I pieced together from live recording.

This is race one of the final league 1 event. It was decided by vote to have it wet!

Hello Gent's.

I'm relatively new to Race07 and have a few mates that I race with and we're just getting ourselves familiar with the game so were practicing with AI first (Please don't have a go, I know its no substitute for real racing, but you have to start somewhere). However I went nuts when I found out the the game records every race so I couln't resist throwing a vid together for the guys.

I'm no media pro but hope you like it... :)
