Hi there, as I was getting somewhat frustrated of the poor AI behaviour at Spa circuit (overtaking seemed almost impossible for many cars), I decided to alter the race line for the AI in search of decent overtaking sections. This fastlane file is not the ideal line for the fastest lap, but it sure improves overtaking capacity by AI with +50%.
So despite improvement, it can still occur that some AI cars tend to stick to the bumper of the car in front, that's still Kunos' department.
Anyway, let me explain the alternative racing lines and, yes indeed, the extended pitlane exit. I will illustrate with a vid, see below.
1)As the AI cars set off in the pit, they don't take the original pit exit, but drive through to the second pitlane (these are used for large events like the 24H with over 50 cars in real life) and exit up to Raidillon along the side barriers to launch into the Kemmel straight.See this vid at 1:15 to have an idea.
2)In their first lap after pitting, the AI will keep to the very side of the track (for the whole lap) to make space for other warmed up traffic. After that one lap, they will follow the race line as recorded in the fastlane file. During endurance events, this may be useful during the race, though I have to mention the AI does NOT overtake other cars coming from the pit, during that first "warm up" lap after pitting. (see part of vid where the Lotus 98T exits pit lane and lines up behind the other cars). This might come over as somewhat strange, but it is an effective way of letting the faster warmed up cars pass during that lap when their tyres are still cold.
3)The camera at Raidillon has been slightly adjusted (shorter time cap) to emphasise on the pitlane exit and also because Kunos densed the trees around there, leaving the cars almost invisible at the end of that cam shot.
enjoy the vid, DO NOT FORGET TO BACK UP YOUR ai and data folder of the Spa circuit!!
