Webber: Vettel Peace Claims Are ‘Rubbish’
Mark Webber claims reports, that he has made peace with Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel, are ‘rubbish’.
The Aussie moved to set the record straight after he was quoted over the weekend as saying he and Vettel ‘would continue to respect each other and will continue to remain focused in wanting to make the team proud’.
The 36-year-old, in particular, was said to have added: ‘Sebastian and I are a team and we share a great camaraderie’.
Webber, however, took to the social media site Twitter (AussieGrit), insisting those remarks are old and ‘out of date’.
Webber wrote: ‘Some rubbish quotes floating around I hear, good old spin job by someone…#outofdatequotes.’
The Red Bull drivers’ fractious relationship came to a head after last month’s Malaysian Grand Prix when the triple world champion controversially grabbed victory.
Sebastian Vettel deliberately ignored instruction from team principal Christian Horner not to pass Webber over the final stint of the race at the Sepang International Circuit due to fears over tyre wear.
It was the latest in a long line of incidents involving the feuding duo, not least was their on-track collision in the 2010 Turkish Grand Prix.
