Ricciardo Ready to Replace Webber at Red Bull?
Red Bull are reportedly ready to axe Mark Webber at the end of the current F1 season and bring in their sister team’s, Toro Rosso rookie Daniel Ricciardo to replace him.
Webber’s Red Bull career is heading for disaster, after his infamous spat with team-mate Sebastian Vettel in the aftermath of the controversial Malaysian Grand Prix.
The Australian has also lashed out at team principal Christian Horner in recent weeks, and reports now suggest that Red Bull will part company with him at the end of the current campaign.
Kimi Raikkonen and Nico Hulkenberg have been two of the names linked with the role, but it is understood the team are eyeing their sister team’s rookie Ricciardo instead.
The youngster, who finished seventh at the Chinese Grand Prix, says he is certainly aware of the speculation and is hopeful of winning Webber’s place.
‘The seventh place in Shanghai definitely didn’t harm my chances,’ said Ricciardo.
‘But I know that I need to do more if I want to have a chance of getting the place at Red Bull. I need to show I’m not just a flash in the pan.’
Porsche has recently claimed Webber has signed a 5 year contract.
Will Webber leave Red Bull and if he does – where would he go next? Or would he leave F1 completely and turn his head to another sport.
