Tutorial: New Downloads Section for Mods
A little heads up about our recently released downloads manager. In the last couple of days the downloads section had a major overhaul as we added some really nice new features that now integrates community made game modifications with our forums.
We currently support the following games: Assetto Corsa, Euro Truck Simulator 2, F1 2012 The Game, F1 Race Stars, Game Stock Car 2012, Grid 2, GT Legends, Project CARS, RACE 07 Series, rFactor 2 and WRC 3 The Game and in the sim racing resources category Bob’s Track Builder is listed. More categories can be added on request of course.
In the following screenshots ill try to visualize what changes have been recently made.
I have taken a random mod that has been uploaded today as an example. When you visit our downloads manager (link) you see that all the latest modifications are now listed in three columns on the downloads mainpage. Our example mod has been the most recent entry and is listed on the top left. On the right-hand side you see a listing of all available game categories and their subcategories where files can be added. Make sure you add your files in the appropriate subcategory. On the top you can browse through four different highlighting sections: Newest Downloads, Most Viewed, Most Downloaded and Top Rated mods.
After clicking the “UPLOAD” button you can add information in various fields. Title, Author, Version number and various ways to describe your game modification (screenshot section will be added soon). Together with your zipped file you can also add a thumbnail that will be shown in front of your modification.
So far nothing new. But as you can see pointed out by the red arrow after uploading a new tab appeared called “View Thread”. This is where the cool stuff starts as during your upload the software has created an automated thread for you in the appropriate subforums on our boards. Other members will now be directly notified that a new file has been added and they can browse with one click between the file and the thread that where comments can be made and support can be given. (see screenshot below of the forum post). All files that will be added from now on automatically get their own thread.
The forum post now contains a hyperlink pointing towards the file as well for full integration.
Our thanks goes out to Micheal from xFGeek.com for making this all possible for our community and without his expertise and endless patience this would not have been possible! Thanks a million Mike you are a star
If you have any questions or you spotted a bug you can leave them in the comments below or visit our support forum.
Please remember to only upload legal files as we do not allow anything else.
Now go upload and download your favorite cars, tracks, skins and various other files, enjoy!

Neis! :sneaky:
Why no rF1 or GTR2???
Because those are well covered on other sites and we no longer support these games as newer versions have been released.
Hmm.. I don’t understand very well.. If newer versions have been released then why include GTL and not GTR2? (I know it’s not the same subject, but it is the "technical" sequel) rF1 is still the most stable and moddable game, rf2 is not really a newer version cause it’s not even out yet!! (I mean modders are not so enthusiastic at modding the beta)
It’s true that they are well covered on other sites, but I’d have to say I trust Race Department the most. It would be the first place I’d upload my mods.
We still have an extremely active GTL section here, running 2 leagues a year, and 2 club events every week.
Ok, now I understand that "support" has to do with your leagues and clubs. To me personally, RD is more a place where I check news and discuss modding on forums =)
We have nothing against that
hey, I’m doing plugin for rFactor1/2 and I will for Assetto Corsa. Usually I give a link to my homepage so people can see my paypal donation button.
Whith this system if you uplaod a mod of somebody, people will not see the original homapage. Paypal donation is a good way to reward mod author.
So is it possible to link a paypal donation button directly there?
Cheers,
Seb
