Sauber has confirmed Nico Hulkenberg for 2013

Sauber released a press release today confirming that many have been speculating for so long, Nico Hulkenberg has been signed for Sauber for their 2013 Driver Lineup

Now the focus remains on their other Driver “Kamui Kobyashi” Will he be signed for the 2013 driver Lineup or will he be left without a seat? a question perhaps appropiate for Eddie Jordan, who predicted Lewis Hamiltons move to mercedes way before anyone else.

Here’s what the team released earlier today:

Nico Hülkenberg has been confirmed as one of the two team drivers for the Sauber F1 Team in season 2013. The 25-year-old German won the GP2 Series in 2009, made his Formula One debut in 2010 with the WilliamsF1 Team and managed to capture a pole position in his maiden year. He is currently driving for Sahara Force India and ranks 12th in the Drivers’ World Championship with 49 points after 17 out of 20 races. Hülkenberg’s best Formula One race result this season was at the Belgian Grand Prix, where he finished fourth on the challenging Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

Nico Hülkenberg’s reaction: “I’m really looking forward to working with the Sauber F1 Team. It’s a well-placed team and very competitive. Plus it’s a team in which young drivers have repeatedly delivered exceptional performances. I would like to take up that baton. The Sauber F1 Team is currently going through a very positive development and I’m certain that together we can achieve a lot. Until that time I will remain fully focused on my job with the Sahara Force India Team. I’d like to thank the management at Sahara Force India for giving me the chance to return to Formula One as a team driver.”

Nice move from Sauber, I like Hulk.

Paul Di Resta reckons Nico is taking a step backwards not forward and that Force India is a good career choice.

I became a hulk fan after I saw him snatch the pole position in Brazil 2010, brazilian comentator at the track said: “NICO HULKENBERGYYYYYYY NA POLE POSITION!!!”, yes hulkenberGY. From that moment on he became hulkenbergy for me

  4. Good switch for The Hulk if Sauber can keep up the same level of performance next year as they do in 2012.
Still consider him one of the biggest (overlooked) talents in Formula 1 together with Kovalainen. That both are not at least a number two driver for one of the top teams in F1 beats me.

Good news for Sauber! Now get Rubens for the second seat now!

    Good One!
Now I hope he will only strive to be as fast as them this season, and not getting high tempered aswell! Then he could do great next season.
I am concerned about the car not being developed by James Key. May be no matter, could be a problem nevertheless.
