rFactor 2: Brabham BT20 Around Monza Videos
Last week Image Space Incorporated updated their PC simulation game rFactor 2. Besides improvements on the gameplay, graphics, AI, UI, multiplayer and mod packaging the open beta game now also features a new classic Formula car, the Brabham BT20 and another classical venue has been added as well.
The latter is the historical layout of Monza, called Brianza in game. The track comes with two different layouts: the 1966 and the 10 kilometer version with the infamous banked curves. This layout was much used in the 50s and 60s as back then Monza was already the host of the annual Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix with iconic winners such as Phil Hill and Stirling Moss. The 10K layout was abandoned during the late sixties after a series of fatal crashes and the circuit modernized.
Thankfully us sim racers can still enjoy the Golden Era of Motorsports in a virtual environment as the two videos below of Lee Ross and Tim Wheatley show:

The new Brabham drives really well, great fun to drift and easier to control than the other F1′s as its not quite as powerful and Monza is beautiful, really awesome track! Build 90 is starting to show a glimpse of what will be possible with rF2…..starting to look better and better
I’m still seeing some late trackside object pop ups starting at 1:42. I’m also seeing some level of detail shifting in the trees. There is significant pop up of the tree reflections on the hood of the car which needs improvement seen at 0:22 to 0:50. Tree pops up late at 1:01 at center of screen. With settings maxed, none of this should be happening.
Its a BETA…….By definition, its not finished and has faults etc…
