Are the races going to be recorded and put up on YouTube
2 hour races = Le Mans Series, who in da blue hell are you kidding?
Probably because not everyone leads sad lives that they can sit at their PC racing for hours on end, like some folks seem to do, RD have decided to make the races practical lengths to allow folks to fit them in to their schedules.
There is no driver change yet in iRacing… if you are up to drive 24 hours in a row I’m up to broadcast it
I think its a great idea. Some of us are dying to do some longer events in iracing and until driver swapping is available, this is what we have to settle for.
Oh my god, I have to buy a new seat. I cant sit on a chair forever, not for two hours!
Got excited when I saw the announcement. But 2 hour races with no driver swaps is not my idea of endurance. Also I don’t see the need to copy the car format used in the iRacing official series…
But it’s RD’s idea of endurance, seeing as iRacing don’t yet have a driver swap facility. Or would you rather RD just not bother trying to offer races for the members?
I’m a bit surprised to read this. “Le Mans Series” is not equal to endurance. The American Le Mans Series run mostly two-hour races in their season. Going with the cars of the official iRacing series allows people in iRacing to take something familiar into a new setting. If driver swaps were available, we’d implement that and increase race lengths. As of yet they are en’t so this is pretty much the best we can do and I think that’ll be just fine.
I do 2 hour races every week in a league and we open and close the season with a 3 hour race. It’s not that bad. We just opened the season with Lemans and the time passed really quickly. Except for the fact that I missed my breaking zone with 2 laps to go and I plastered my GT1 car against the barrier it was a lot of fun.
When iRacing adds drivers swaps we will really be able to do some serious endurance. ATM 2 hours seems to be just right but 3 hours would be doable too.
I love endurance racing, if I could join, I would
When the going gets tough, the so called tough go home to mamma.
just signed up, this is a nice way to get together an iRacing based community for long distance driver-swap races in the future. looking forward.
