New Insight To The Possible London Grand Prix

Today, the two current British world champions of Formula 1 Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, and two Sky Sports F1 presenters gave an insight to the proposed Grand Prix, going round some of the world’s most recognizable landmarks, in the historic City of London. The potential circuit start at the Mall, and goes past world famous sights, such as the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and many more.  The circuit, as shown below, follows a Singapore esque structure, which you can expect from a street circuit, feature mostly of 90 degree corners, which are linked up by a series of long straights, which will give a good opportunity  for drivers to try an overtakes.

The video it’s self, courtesy of Santander and Vodafone Mercedes Mclaren, gives a great insight to the circuit, including views from the two drivers about their thoughts about racing in their home country and capital city. Watch the original video on Eurosport or the short summary on Youtube below, and leave a moment of your thoughts.

At first i thought this was an insane idea. But it starts to grow on me when considering the amount of fans being able to see the F1 circus in action.

If it gets half as crowded as during a Bavaria City Racing event it will be epic

From the look of it, it would make a pretty good circuit.

Would also make a good rf2 track, so even if it didnt happen in real life, atleast we could race it

And that about the vibrations the old buildings there will have to stand?

Why do I have a bad feeling about that last corner?

I don’t want to be a wine O but i cant stand street racing. All you get is green flag and cars coming together like a Demo Derby (Due to the fact the driver looses all peripheral vision into blind turns). Then Safety car while damage is cleaned and cars are moved. Then green and then it will happen again. The race is 200 miles and around 100 will be run under pace car. So its like watching GP2.
OK i watch NASCAR but they go 300 to 500 miles so they wouldn’t want to go the full distance without a little break. I prefer real race tracks like Spa and Monza built for speed,  not built for daily co-mute. But F1 is buying into the street racing bug these days. Permanent tracks are struggling financially so street courses will come courtesy of the local tax payer. Some of whom cant stand car acing. Shame relay
