F1 Online: The Game Beta Impressions and Gameplay
This video takes you through a condensed 30 minutes of my first time playing F1 Online: the Game. This is a BETA release put out by Codemasters and is still open for signup.
According to Codemasters’ website, F1 Online: the Game is described as follows:
F1 ONLINE: THE GAME will give you the chance to be the driver and the team boss in a game that combines intuitive top-down racing gameplay with a rewarding management game as you create and manage your own team.
Race with your favourite team in online multiplayer races across a range of game modes, from entering the full 2011 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™ to GRAND PRIX™ events complete with practice and qualifiers and a range of challenges and time trials.

great game, not bad for free
It has potential, but that potential is ruined by the driving of the general population. It’s like any other arcade-style racer, very frustrating when you can’t make progress because you’re constantly being slammed off the track.
i thought it was a management game i don’t want to be driving a car with my mouse i want to manage and watch the race’s and manage the strategy in real time.This is some what of a let down for me …

Nice Job, Thanks . I signed up months ago and was “selected” . I had hassles right of the bat getting registered. Any way, Not for me….too tedious. I don’t have the patience.
I signed up for the beta and was selected and was really shocked when I found out it was an arcade “goof game” and not a sim. I guess I was just not paying attention. So, I thought OK, at least take a look at it… and it became obvious instantly that this is one of those FREE games… that “dollars you to death.”
The most expensive cars I have ever owned, I got for free because I restored them. Well… the silly thing is… the more I played it, the more I liked it. It was not about racing, or F-1…. but something I really enjoyed which was basically a mindless little game that I could play and enjoy without putting a lot of work into it and get frutrated with etc. Oh sure, a major pain in the @$$ because of the nimrods that crash into you, but actually very satisfying to watch them go off track and you never see them again. Apparantly it has a tight rein on gomers that try to wreck the game for everyone else because I saw incredibly little of that. Probably went through 100+ 3 lap races which take about as long to run as it does to get them loaded and going. I have to say it was fun, and I enjoyed it for what it was… but then it was FREE and they give you 10,000 points to get upgrades and you can move up much faster. Then, 2 days ago… I went to sign in and it was just gone. I don’t know if I advanced too far, or the Beta ended or what… but the link stopped working and now says “coming soon” Would have been nice if they had told us it was going to end. I would not invest a dollar in this… if I understand it correctly… you can advance just by playing… but “buying points” or credits.. you can move up MUCH much faster. Nah… it was something I could do before calling it a night for 30 minutes or an hour and enjoy it.
I can’t understand people who want only management. There are plenty of browser based games which focus on that one. This one is a new thing, and very fun to drive with mouse in my opinion. Looking forward to release
