E3 2012 – at full throttle!
With the E3 2012 just around the corner, many people start asking themselves what’s in for (sim) racing fans. The answer is quite simple: a lot. Starting Tuesday, June 5th, we’ll get tons of news on a daily base and we hope you’re just as excited as we are. The outlook is amazing so we wanted to provide you with a little preview for the, in our books, most anticipated games of the show.
Race Driver: GRiD 2
So many years after the first game of the series there’s finally another vital sign of it’s sequel – and it’s up to speed already. With all the sequels to DiRT & the F1 game series fans began to question Codemasters if there will be a sequel at all. Question answered and it’ll blow your mind if it’s as good as it’s predecessor. It hasn’t been officially confirmed as of now but Codemasters hinted at an E3 reveal in several interviews. As usual, it should feature touring cars and the likes. The Codemasters booth can be found @ #2100.
Forza Horizon
Probably an integral part when it comes to the presentation of new 360 games, Forza Horizon is being developed by Playground Games and is meant to be played as some sort of “open world” spinoff to Forza 4. It’s certainly not looking like a hardcore sim but fun nonetheless. The game is looking quite amazing and will, because it’s featuring an open world, probably be more in the league of Need for Speed than Forza 4. There’s so much speculation going on, let’s wait and see. The Microsoft booth can be found @ #4100 & #4030.
WRC3
It’s been some time since WRC2 has been released and most people wouldn’t agree if one would say it’s been a worthy sequel to it’s predecessor. The planned sequel, however, doesn’t look half-bad and is based on a completely new graphics engine, too. Rumors suggest that the newest instalment will not only feature improved graphics but intro video sequences for each stage, an improved career mode and much more. Whilst this game is something we’re definitely looking forward, it’s not sure if it’ll be presented on E3 at all. Fingers crossed!
F1 2012
F1 2012 is definitely the one game most people are waiting for nowadays and seeing that there’s nothing like Gran Turismo 6 is coming up (not that we know of, at least). Codemasters posted some screenshots a few days ago and they’re definitely promising. Amongst all the information that’s been made available so far most people are happy about something that’s not even remotely related to the gameplay at all: GFWL is gone, Steam is here! After all the hassle that GFWL caused to many players (including the author), that’s not only an acceptable decision but also something the community really wanted to see. The Codemasters booth can be found @ #2100.
Further information regarding the E3 expo (as most of you know, the E3 is a trade show – that means that individuals not related to the media or developers aren’t permitted on the floor) can be found on the E3 insider website, the official E3 expo website and the E3 event website on gamespot.

WRC3 was pesented at WRC Rally Acropolis 2012 but no videos nor pictures from the game were taken, unfortunately.
Nice looking forward to some news on Grid 2. DTM included?
Please please please.
I left unnoticed; a video was posted to the WRC 3 The game topic under ‘Other sim racing games’ section!
These are Sims? Uh! Ok
Just because you don’t have to struggle to keep your car on the track doesn’t mean it’s not a sim. There are hardcore and…less hardcore sims.
Forza Horizon definitely isn’t a sim at all, tho. WRC, we’ll see.
+1… thought they were just console car games
There are also rumours that Gran Turismo 6 will be announced aswell
WRC 3….please please please let it have LONG stages…I’ve being hoping and praying that one day we’ll have a rally game with 10min+ stages
I don’t care about graphics, not even physics all that much lol. Just long long stages that force you to rely on pace notes, not memorizing the course, to set top times.
Amen to that
Not gonna happen because WRC Game series is STILL an Arcade game series that relies on the game being fun and not tiring.
