rFactor 2 – F1 2008 RB4 Renders Revealed
Well known mod developer Mak-Corp has released renders of the Red Bull RB4 for their upcoming F1 2008 mod for rFactor 2. The detailed renders, which were made by F1Racer of RacingRenders.com, give a fine preview of what kind of visual quality can be expected for the upcoming mod. The RB4 was modeled by Koen Calleyl and painted by Raymond Schram.
The RB4 enjoyed very limited success in the 2008 Formula 1 season and was the second Adrian Newey designed Red Bull F1 car. The car was powered by a Renault engine and was at the hands of David Coulthard and Mark Webber. Together they scored 7th in the 2008 constructors championship with the highest result coming in the form of a podium in Montreal.
While these renders are very promising, it has recently been announced that there will not be a release during the beta stage. According to their development blog, MAK-Corp reports that…
“..With rF2 we face a far more higher challenge and workload to get cars in game especially this early. The cars need to have the Rim/Tires separated for the tire deformation to work, we have to make alterations and create the heat haze you see coming out of exhausts, the driver body model has to be updated and then animated which also has been yielding its own challenges as the export has been doing some weird stuff. To top that off, we also have to do the physics and align the wheels/tires through the physics. A lot more is required then it used to be and its been a lot of fun learning and getting to grips with everything.
We are progressing quite well though and many are asking us if the mod will be released during the rF2 beta period. I would like to formally announce that I have no expectation of releasing any mod during this beta period.
BEFORE YOU SHOUT! The reason for this is simple. The first full version of rF2 is a little ways off, I believe 8 weeks was said somewhere? don’t quote me on that. We know that a lot of things will change in the full version and there will be a lot of missing elements in the full version that are not in the beta. Due to this, we don’t know how they will affect the work already done and how much we will have to go back and alter and fix. We’d rather release all our mods right, then release them prematurely and then have to go back to re-do things. So for now we’re taking this beta period to learn everything, show how we’re progressing, show how the mods are progressing, keep you all informed, and once the mod is all ready and rF2 is at a more stable release, we’ll release the mod. We will be sure to show videos and more screens during the beta period though. So…stay tuned folks!
