iRacing – Updated Daytona International Speedway Now Available
Daytona International Speedway was recently given a $20m makeover in the form of track resurfacing. This resurfacing would have rendered iRacing’s laser scanning of the track obsolete and unrealistic.
However, the team have proven their vigilance on providing a realistic simulation experience by adapting to the new Daytona in the form of re laser scanning the new surface. The team at iRacing put the money earned from subscriber money to good use and have re scanned the track in order to give both driver and sim racer alike a more authentic experience. While this may seem minuscule to an outsider perspective, it is of the most importance for drivers that race on the DIS as they will have a better idea of all the new bumps and surface changes on the track before they actually arrive for the race weekend.
In addition to the updated laser scan, iRacing will now feature lights for night racing on both the road course and oval configurations.
Daytona International Speedway is available for $14.95 and will be automatically integrated into all iRacing championships effective immediately. The track will come free of charge for those who already own the older version of the track. Those who never owned the 2007 version but are still interested in purchasing it can nab the track for $5.00 and can use it for testing and private league races.
