Grid 2 Rumors Surface

Grid 2 may be set for an official announcement according to Lee Bradley over at Xbox360Achievements.org. RaceDepartment recently reported on the video released by the popular Xbox 360 news site on their tour of Codemaster’s Spa Leamington Studio. During this tour, Codemasters’ director of communications Rich Eddy was asked about the possibility of Grid 2. Eddy simply replied that “Loads of people are asking where GRID 2 is, when that’s coming back. Well stayed tuned, you may not have to wait long to hear more about that.” While this doesn’t officially confirm the presence of a GRID 2 in the future it certainly adds fuel to the fire.

If announced, GRID 2 would be the sequel to Codemasters’ 2008 racing title GRID which received positive reviews on all major platforms and earned a Metacritic score of 87.

What do you think ? Would you be excited for a new GRID installment? Let us know in the comments below!

I would be very excited into seeing a GRID 2. Codemaster’s games have gotten better with each installment and even though GRID may not have been a true “sim” it was still the most fun in a single player career I have ever had in a driving game.

    • Brandon Warren says:

I completely agree. I enjoy a good and dynamic single player racing career mode and GRID by far had the best format for that. I hope this happens :) .

Ditto. The sound was great, graphics were great, user interface and progression were great, and it was the game that got me to only play racing games from inside the cockpit. It’s not a sim but it’s not trying to be either. I really enjoyed the drifting and, since I live in the metro area, the Formula 3 cars in downtown Detroit. Really cool.

These days there seems to be fewer good arcade racing games than there are hardcore sims being developed!

ha ha GRID I thought thats what F1 2010 and 2011 were supposed to replace.

    • Robert Woodward says:

the F1 games werent a replacement for GRID. they are completely different kinds of racing game, they have DiRT for offroad, F1 for F1(derp :P ) and GRID for GT racing. i Think they just wanted to stop having one game with all (Toca race driver) and have a seperate game for each and deiced to only make at the moment what was most popular (rally and f1) before they went to GT racing again.

  3. Sean Armstrong says:

Grid was definitely fun. Although I played it all the way through with a keyboard and got pretty good at it before even owning a wheel. Once I bought a wheel I found that with a wheel it was disappointing and felt so horrendously arcadey that I haven’t touched it since.

  4. Bram Hengeveld says:

I personally prefer Race Driver 2.1  Race Driver 3 and GRID didn’t really do it for me.

  5. Scott Webber says:

so much fun on GRID drifting , i still have it on my shelf collecting dust, oh the good old days of drifting :) …. them skylines we’re awesome.

    • Rupe Wilson says:

“”so much fun on GRID drifting , i still have it on my shelf collecting dust, oh the good old days of drifting …. them skylines we’re awesome.”"”

got to agree there, somtimes you dont need a sim but great fun with freinds..
i have the same fun with dirt3, rallycross sideways action is fun …

if you still want grid action.. check out tungle p2p VPN tool for gaming… DRIFT ON ..(if only shift drifting worked this good)

So yes im looking forward to this just for the drifting…

  6. Intrepidkart10 says:

Iv’e always wanted GRID 2!!! I hope this rumor is true!

  7. Apex1972 says:

I wish they would gice the F1 rights to a better developer . COdemasters are no good at sim racing anymore. maybe back in the TOCA days but the f1 stuff is just horrible crap.

  8. Christopher Hall-Nelson says:

Its deffo one ill be looking out for. Ive bought 4 copies of the first to go on my 2 pc’s so i can race with my nephew, and a copy for my friends and my own Xbox 360′s.
You might think its going a little over board, buying so many copies, but when there’s is so much fun to be had from a game, its a small price to pay!

I’ve also just realised, that apart from having the disk version of the first, i also bought the steam charity version too. Hmmm, maybe i have bought too many, oh well!

If GRiD 2 can replicate the fun i had on 1, then its gonna be a hit for sure!

  9. Hiroshi Awazu says:

Yup! Drifting on Grid was awesome!. I’ll grab Grid 2 if it is released.

  10. holden1968 says:

How about – v8 supercars????? Holdens, Fords????? And ALL CURRENT TRACKS IN THE V8 SEASON, NOW that would be GRAND       Last time we saw some v8 cars/tracks was in Race Driver 3…………………many FULL MOONS ago, lol……

Car Of The Future – coming in next 2-3 years, so a replication of the current season would be nice, before it’ lost FOREVER…….
