rF2 2024mula 1 Championship - rFactor 2 Racing Club Registration

rFactor 2 Racing Club event
Monaco thread for Monday is up. If you are signed up for the championship please come along and tell me in that thread that you are ready for the flagship Monaco Grand Prix!

Thanks.
I did some laps today and got to a 1m14s on low fuel.
Wasn't sure if this car has hybrid power so didn't map a button or use it.
Sorry to be controversial but I did find the car a little shallow in its physics implementation.
Rear grip is incredible. I ran Spa wing levels (Front 18-Rear 8) and was flat through the swimming pool complex.
I took almost all the diff out, stiffened the rear, softened the front and still in 40 laps I got only one slight oversteer moment exiting casino and saved it. It sort of reminded me of the Codies F1 2010 car where you ran zero rear wing. The rear is just nailed down.
I was wondering if I was looking back to other cars with rose tinted glasses and did some laps in the S397 Formula Pro. It was glorious (and trickier) and 2.5 sec slower.
If you have chosen this car because it's very accessible I understand. Just giving some honest feedback.
Thank you for the feedback, however we will be sticking with the current car for the following reasons.
  • This car is a Workshop mod by a group who often release top tier content.
  • By being a workshop mod, it is free and therefore anyone can join these races. The Formula Pro is DLC and hasn't been widely used on this site, so by making the car mod free and only using a few DLC tracks that people probably have anyway, it allows more people to use it.
  • This mod is completely based on the modern Formula 1 cars and has the liveries for all the cars and drivers. This allows users to pick a team and represent it.
  • Yes it is easier to drive than the Formula Pro, this is an advantage for the longer races and allows more casual racers to enjoy driving a Formula car to the limits. This mod has been used by us for over a year now, and has some of the closest racing we get on Mondays. Remember that the aim of these events is to enjoy the FUN of close racing.
  • The Formula Pro's physics are just as weird in different ways. I have never driven a mod with more pathetic and inconsistent rear grip upon acceleration than the Formula Pro, something which only detracts from racing and practicing for races.
  • I dislike the Formula Pro mod for this reason, and this do not want to run it out of personal preference.

You are absolutely welcome to join us for the race on Monday though, the more the merrier. 1:14s is a good lap time, and with a better setup (I'll upload one tonight), you can get quicker. My best lap in practice yesterday on higher fuel was low 1:13s and I feel like I can still go quicker.

Basically: Free Mod with real liveries on a more consistent to drive at the limit of grip equals much better racing. Much better racing is 100% the aim of Single-Seater Mondays.
